I'm happy with anything that I can get. And I was more than happy to have a CD quality "Wish I'd never met you", as well as the B's from Going to a gogo and IORR.
But yeah, "I think I'm going mad" is missing.

it was a lame atempt at a Xmas cash-in, wasn't it?

The hardcore bought it- but nobody else.
Useless sleeve notes, and a cover shot with the bassist air-brushed out.

What is tbe point of the record industry? What is the point of new compilations by Elton John, Elvis and many other artists every year a couple of months before Christmas? To be nice to the fans who don't know where they keep their old records I suppose. And to make money, of course.

It was a missed opportunity, for sure. Light on Voodoo Lounge B-Sides too. And the guy who wrote the sleevenptes is probably the same idiot who edited Rocks Off on Live Licks.

Quick money, obviously, since it didn't show any real interest by anybody to reveal anything really new or complete from the Stones back catalogue. With so much stuff available, one wonders why they bother at all with these shitty little records. Either Mick let Wyman dig in, or we'll wait until they loosen up and give the stuff to someone who has any real interest in it (hell, I wouldn't be disappointed if they sold every damn tape to Experience Hendrix or the people behind Dylan's Bootleg Series).

2 positive things...finally THrough The Lonely Nights on CD, and that plane-shot of Jagger inside.
Everything else about it sucks.
The stupid song-selection, the errors in the booklet, the edit of Miss You, the edit of Bill Wyman on the cover, that they included Wild Horses and some songs from Sucking in the 70s...which didn't make any sense at all.
It's not even a bad effort...there wasn't any effort behind it.

EXACTLY !! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed !! And as Nikolai said, it was most certainly a missed opportunity. I must say, all in all I was disappointed.

It would have made a little more sense if it had included b-sides such as:

All Down The Line (Live 95)
Undercover Of The Night (Live 89)
Jump On Top Of Me
So Young
Cook Cook Blues
Think I'm Going Mad
Black Limousine (Live 95)
The Storm
I'm Gonna Drive
Gimme Shelter (Live 95)

Good disc no doubt. The actual point of it can be discussed.

Would have been a nice bootleg. As an official release: horrible.

Is this the only place you can find Let it Rock on CD?

Apart from bootlegs, yes.

Wouldn't have worked as a boot Mr Ed. The B-sides bootleg collections are a). thorough (you get EVERYTHING), b). themed (studio outtakes, 12" mixes, live tracks and c). GENUINELY rare (no already available album versions, etc etc).

What they should have done is released a three CD set. Sure, it would have had limited appeal to the casual record buyer who has only Forty Licks sitting next to - possibly - Exile or Let It Bleed in his or her company car, but the fans would have lapped it up. I do think the Stones treat their fans with something close to contempt when it comes to archive material. I mean, who approved the sleevenotes? Why not give Bill Wyman a respectable sideline as a band archivist? He's got a CARTOON BOOK about The Stones coming out, for fook's sake.

Glad for the inclusion of "Through The Lonely Nights", "Let It Rock" & "Anyway You Look At It" but it was a shamelessly lazy effort for a band who after 40 years must have hundreds of unheard songs. Their vaults must literally be groaning and yet they give us the least interesting album in my entire collection. Stones or otherwise!

all that buried treasure.....and they release "fools gold"......a band with all that power & money......and that's the best they can come up with?.......seems like they deny their own historical importance (mortality's a tough baby)

I still proudly can claim that I have yet to buy this travesty of a collection. Badge of Courage and honor.

After RO came up with the excellent 'Pirates of the Vaults' 5 cd set,
the official Rarities cd, has become, a mere dust collector.

I had made up my mind too, about not buying it. But....then I saw Jagger outside that plane.....that was actually the reason, and besides the girl behind the counter in the CD-store was very attractive.
But I have avoided Forty Licks and Live Licks.

I bought "Forty Licks" for the four new songs and "Live Licks" for "The Nearness Of You". Sad but true!

If it is the only official CD release containing Let it Rock, then its existence is justified. One of the all-time great Stones tracks, and very few people have heard it. Some day they will add it as a "bonus track" to the Sticky Fingers CD, and its place in history will be safe.

I believe 'Let It Rock' is on the old vinyl copies of the Spanish version of 'Sticky Fingers', the one with the fingers in the molasses can on the cover.
