The Chess Recordings 1964-1965 (a.k.a. '2120 South Michigan Avenue')....

3. Stewed & Keefed (a.k.a Brian's Blues)
4. Around & Around

7. Empty Heart
8. High Heel Sneakers (very nice stereo)
9. Down thew Road Apiece
10.If You Need me
11. Look What You've Done (Jagger introcudes this song by just mentioning the title...)
12. Tell Me Baby (a.k.a. How Many Times)
13. Time Is On My Side (organ version)
14. Reelin & Rocking
15. Don't You Lie To me

Down In The Bottom (a.k.a. Meet me in The Bottom)
High heel Sneakers
Tell Me Baby (how many more times)
Reeling and Rocking
Key To The Highway
Stewed & Keefed

They sound like they were recorderd yesterday......I guess some guys from the Chess legacy took the original mastertapes and released it

Yes, and Fanny Mae is (most likely) a BBC recording.

Also, I have some doubts about tracks 13-15 being from Chess...
Somehow the sound of these doesn´t really fit in with the other June recordings.
Or maybe they´re not mixed properly? The others are available in superb stereo, but these are not.

This CD surely sounds excellent but it is just a new compilation of well known tracks. Fanny Mae is indeed from BBC.

According to N Zentgraf's 'The Complete Works Of The Rolling Stones' some tracks
from this Chess Recordings Sessions are originating from Regent Studios.... on the other hand I think that all those recordings are from chess, with the exception of Fanny Mae which is BBC.

For example they started Little Red Rooster and Don't Lie To me in Regent Studios, but make final recording at Chess...

It doesn't mention any label, just 'chess 64'. Inside are liner notes which suggests that Chess releases this album from original (stereo) master tapes...on the cover is a colourpic of our 5 boys, I think somewhere in London. Inside there is a pic of Chess Studios. The CD itself is pink-coloured and that's it....

Don't Lie To Me is indeed from Chess, albeit mixed very diffrently from other Chess tracks. Little Red Rooster is a Regent Sound recording. Listen to the tape hiss and Charlie's drums! Fanny Mae is BBC. Time Is On My Side (Organ) is also Regent Sound.

Reelin' & Rockin'????

How long is the extended version of 2120 South Michigan?

Is anything from this CD in stereo? Also, is the version of Satisfaction from the TV show called Shindig? I know the Stones recorded an unreleased version of Satisfaction, with Brian on harmonica, in May 1965 at Chess Studios, but they might have taken the audio of this from a bootleg DVD that has the Stones using the backing track of the harmonica version for Shindig.

tracks 1-13 stereo
tracks 13-15 and 24-27 'glorious' mono
tracks 16-23 stereo

And yes Satisfaction is from Shindig (this is one kind of demo with harmonica, playbacked by the Stones on may 20th 1965)

Are tracks 18,19,21-23 really in stereo? (or is it just what the cover states?)
That would be a sensational first stereo release of Little Red Rooster!

It is NOT the same as the Sister Morphine release of the Chess Sessions.

What´s different, except for the sound?

No new tracks, no new versions, as far as I can tell. Just great sound.

Hello keeffriffhard,
I know that you cannot sell a copy of this cd, but I would gladly send you ten dollars to compensate you for mailing a copy to me in Chicago. Is this something you would be willing to do.... Thanks, Marc eightwalnut@aol.com

Hi,
Is there any chance that we can enjoy this one? Uploading at Dime? Even buying? I am really interested in the stereo Little red rooster.
Alex.

Sister Morphine was indeed the originator of the Chess Sessions(years ago) although lots of other labels have released their versions with minor differences. Fannie Mae made its appearance on a BBC bcast but was recorded at Chess. And I imagine the "Satisfaction" did come from a boot dvd (notice any dropouts or maybe being a little short?-if not Kudos!)

Alex.

Too many official tracks on it to upload it on Dime.

Sorry to say the "stereo" version of Little Red Rooster has that old dreadful "electronically re-channelled for stereo" sound!angry smiley

And tracks 13,18,21-23 are all in the same mono as before...

So nothing new here!
