i love that movie , it was the first stones movie i ever saw and it's still my favorite mick's outfits are dated but but so are the ones he wore in gimme shelter and cs blues

But none of those mentioned are dated as bad as his costumes, including his hair-cut and movements, in LIVE AT THE MAX...

Personally I think all Jagger's live 'looks' were cool in terms of their own from 1969 to 1982. I thnk he was a master playing with his image back then. The customes in 1981/82 were SO absurd that I don't think they can really 'date'.. all those football outfits and all.. As my mom said when I once watched my goddamn weak VHS copy of the movie, does that singer has proper trousers to put on so he wouldn't need to jump in his longjohns... grinning smiley

I like the Grid Iron outfit. It's not a trend, it's not a style, it's a football uniform. I like Bill's tracksuit too.

I was in a cheapo bookshop the other night and they has LSTNT on DVD. It looked 'official' but as all the text was in German I couldn't be sure. Anybody know what the quality is like?

I didn't want to lash out a tenner on it as I'm sure it must be coming out in BluRay soon. Mustn't it?

Sure the language is german ?
The 2006 official benelux release by Universal got dutch text on the back...
Maybe you mixed that up ?

glad it was filmed at that period of time and with so few cameras. Today's standards would make camera cuts every 2-3 seconds and make it painful to watch.

Couldn't agre more .smiling smiley

No problem,at least for me.

If you like this movie I recommend to invest this tenner, the intro with "Under My Thumb" is worth alone the investment...

I don´t know if it´s going to get a BluRay release,I wouldn´t bet.
If you got a code free player the DVD won´t be a problem.

It was region 2 so it will play. I was more concerned about the quality. Does it look better than the video?

I've always really liked this film and I'd love to have it on DVD.

<< so is Chuck Berry (along with many others), and noone calls him a hack. >>

Yes, and IF Thorogood had written 30 of the greatest songs in rock & roll history as well as creating one of music's iconic guitar styles still being emulated 50 years later, your analogy might be appropriate.

I was speaking about George's playing style not his songwriting or impact on playing styles. Did you not see the "along with many others" part? It's part of your quote of me, did you not notice? Or were you too focused on what I said about Chuck Berry to fully understand my point?

Since your comprehension skills may be lacking, I'll explain it further. As a musician who plays guitar, Chuck Berry, ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS, has a very repetitive playing style. This doesn't mean he can't do other things or is limited in his ability, it only means when it comes to his performances and recordings, he kept to a certain style in which most songs tended to sounded very similar and/or contained many similar elements. Comparatively, George Thorogood, as a musician who plays guitar, has a very repetitive playing style, much like Chuck Berry AND MANY OTHERS. This doesn't mean George Thorogood, like Chuck Berry, can't do other things or is limited in his ability, it only means when it comes to his performances and recordings, he keeps to a certain style in which most songs tend to sound very similar and/or contain many similar elements. This particular aspect of a musician's playing ability and style has nothing to do with songwriting since I am pointing out PLAYING STYLE, not SONGWRITING ABILITY OR STYLE. Therefore, George Thorogood is not a hack, at least not when it comes to playing guitar and live performances.

Is this clear enough for you? If not, then I'm afraid I don't know what else I can do to help you understand.

Chuck Berry is probably my favorite guitarist of all time, certainly in the top three at any given time depending on my mood. My saying his style is repetitive is not meant to be a negative criticism in any way.

It looks and sounds way better than the old video ( I´ve never seen ).

Seriously ,there´s circulating some brazilian version as well which seems to be ( a good video ) copy, but the Universal one is really a remarkable improvement.

No extras beside a movie trailer and some snapshots...

My comprehension is quite fine, thank you. No need for insults. Reasonable people can disagree. You don't need to help me understand, I just disagree about Mr. Destroyer's talents. No reason for such acrimony.

No one plays like everyone else, they play like they do. It's why Angus sounds like Angus, Keith sounds like Keith, Chuck sounds like Chuck, etc. For all the nicking of styles, no one plays like anyone else. Influenced, sure. Ability, different. Studio and live - different and the same.

Why did they chop the songs up so much? Like starting a number mid-song? It was stupid. They could have just eliminated certain tired numbers instead of chopping up the existing ones...

I do like the scene where Mick's screaming at Ronnie & shows him his watch & Jerry Hall grabs what Ronnie's wearing & admires it. Mickette is such a control freak. The look on Ronnie's face is priceless...

No. It's never been released in Region 1 (though a high-def version aired on TV recently so it could be in the works).

where was it aired?

a few weeks ago they showed it on VH-1 Classics...the colors looked
a little more vibrant but it was far from Hi-Def.
