Peopee are bound to moan. Some people don't know their born. Over 40+ years into their career we should be grateful to receive anything from the Stones.

Yeah, arent they going to make a DVD of the Rio Show?

It seems like people pan the cd's but are much kinder to DVD releases. maybe Im wrong but thats just what ive noticed.

I expect and hope they'll actually not even bother this time around. The whole tour smacks of a been-there-done-that-got-the-DVD/CD affair....

It would be nice if this time around they did a dvd/cd combo giving us the dvd fo the full Rio show plus bonus footage of some highlites from the tour around the world, plus a cd of live songs from various shows. The tracklisting Rocky Dijon gave is actually a pretty good one. They have never combined a live dvd and cd together, so maybe this would be the best way for them to go.

You sense the Stones are throwing in the towel? I see this thread dove-tailing with the "throwing water" thread....

I wish they re-made those urinals, with the Stones tongue, instead of this CD. I never could find one.

If they are going to release one show on dvd ,it should be Saitama,Japan.

Simply fabulous arena performance and excellent camera work.

On a good night they are still the greatest.

Rocky D, you left off AS TEARS GO BY and PAINT IT BLACK. I think another DVD box set would be great.Rio + 1 Europe show, 1 USA show, 1 Asia show. I liked the last box set....

Then don't buy it. This thread was discussing what people feel is inevitable: another live cd from their latest tour. With that in mind, I suggested something that at least is a little different than what they have done before with their live releases.

what the majority of these postings overlook is that the cream of their live tours both audio and dvd wise is the 60's and 70's era.

How many more releases of the geriatric Stones from their latest tour do we have to witness before the at times ludicrous displays of hubris (look no farther than the virtual airbrushing out of Bill Wyman from "According to The Rolling Stones) give way to some show of genuine respect for their golden years?

Well the answer to that is still some way to go if so many of you are content to shell out hard earned bucks for tour souveneirs that have none of the real power of the live Stones from the late '60's early '70's.

I'm sorry but I do care and I'd like to see official releases of the band's golden years instead of yet more of the footage of admirable old doods on yet another world tour.

Live Licks barely sold 130k in the US with 20 months on the shops, it lasted two weeks on the top 200 with one of the worst drops of the US chart history (50-144). But the album sold well worldwide and it's still charting in various countries as France, Spain or England.

Live Licks was certified Gold by the RIAA. Given that its a double disc set that means at least 250,000 copies were sold in the USA.

no "satisfaction" on their forthcoming live-album?
what disapointment...
but seriously - the track listing is not that bad i think.
surely there a a lot of fans who will enjoy this product.
i would prefer to dig in the vaults, but about taste one
should not discuss.
and for a bunch of grandpas they still kick it.

It would be cool to release a DVD with one song from each Euro date. that would make 21 songs right? A normal tour setlist it could be.

period

during the pc in milan someone asked about new stuff. Mick answered vaugely postponing after the tour, keith - probably kidding - said that they "could cut on the road" receiving a hard look from mick

so, they sure not "cutting it on the road" but maybe the issue of news stuff is on.

in that case things from this tour could be great as bsides

with a cue from how they did live licks and ABB and flashpoint:

first there will be a live cd (ABB live cd) with 3-4 REALLy good songs. there will be no 'rarities' and most of it will be culled from free shows or already broadcast. 2-3 songs from ABB will be the only songs that haven't been released live before. it will be released as if it is going to be the only release.

then, 3 months later there will be a 1 disc dvd (ABB live dvd), most likely chosen from RIO with a bonus track of 1 song from the press conference at julliard.

then will come ABB Deluxe live 2 cd set. it will have 75% of the stuff from the original ABB live disc, plus some safe choices from rio, plus....sway, as tears go by, back of my hand, love is strong, and infamy.....but not the best versions of them from the tour.

finally will come the limited edition ABB deluxe live 2 dvd set, 75% of which will have already been available or broadcast. the remaining 25% will be the best stuff which should have been on the first and only release. (think 2000 light years being left off Flashpoint but on the maxi-single, or Under the Radar being on ABB deluxe but not on the original ABcool smiley. bonus material will include all 3 of the songs from the press conference, mick and keith warming up and joking before they did the super bowl, a short interview voiced over the best version of Back of my Hand, a 10 minute mini-documentary on pre- and post-Rio show, and including different band-member camera options during......JJF(!!!!!).

noone will be told ahead of time that there will be any releases available later, like ABB and ABB deluxe, and four flicks and live licks.

since i would only get 1, i guess i'll have to wait 6 damn months after the initial live release to see what really gets released and which one is worth getting after their marketing dept. is finished playing their games. and i WILL get one, but i will not get several. and right after i do, they'll probably release the "1 year anniversary ABB live deluxe classic series SACD cd" which will have live versions of 8(!) songs from ABB, no warhorses, nighttime, and 3+ stellar performances of lesser-payed stuff, rendered in non-antiseptic mix with distorted guitars up front, which should have been the original release anyways! argggh!

yeah but the sound & picture quality is better on a dvd than on the innerweb.

What are you talking about?I guarantee that the Stones will not release a live album with only 2 or 3 songs that have never previously been oficially released live before.Especially when you consider which tracks were released in November of 2004 on Live Licks and which tracks they are playing these days (I don't see a second live version of Factory Girl in the works). They have never released such an album before so,why would they do it now,so soon after Live Licks? Why in the world would they include Paint It Black when it is on the 1991 and 2004 live cds?Remember that when Live Licks was released,Beast Of Burden had only been released live on the Going To A Go Go single and a live When The Whip Comes Down was only on an obscure then out of print compilation. That proposed tracklist is reasonable for the most part. There has been no Tumbling Dice on an actual live album since 1977,no JJF since 1991,no Rambler since 1970 etc..Then there are the songs such as She's So Cold, the ABB songs,Night Time,As Tears Go By,Far Away Eyes etc. that they could include.

I would personally consider a live album with different songs a different release and I actually would be glad to have it barring ridiculous editing and poor selection of source performances. If you don't like the current band, then you are not going to want them to release any of their work but, there are still people who do like the current band and want them to release music.

Speaking of the current band,I am pretty sure that Bill Wyman is not in it.That's probably you're answer as to why he is not on the covers of their post-1993 albums.
