Stones Questions

Some Lyrics Questions:
I AM WAITING: Does Mick sing "Well like a withered stone" or "Well like a winter storm"

TUMBLING DICE: All lyrics pages on the net say "But baby, baby, I don't need no jewels in my crown" (except on the later live track on the Wild Horses single when he actually sings crown!) when Mick obviously sings " But baby, baby, I don't need no jewels in my frown"

LITTLE RED ROOSTER: All lyrics pages on the net say "Watch out strange cat people" when it is "Watch out strange kin people"

PS why thanks to producer Reg Thorpe at end of Between The Buttons

your interpretation of the lyrics for Tumbling Dice and Rooster would make absolutely no grammatical sense if they were true, so it would appear the lyrics pages are correct

<Watch out strange cat people" when it is "Watch out strange kin people">

Always though it was "stray cat people" smiling smiley On the original (Dixon) I believe it is "country people"?

cant remember which version it is (is it LYL perhaps?) but Jagger definitely sings the 'country people' lyric on a live version somewhere

'Watch THAT strange cat, people'

I remember ordering the sheet music when this came out. There was a 4th verse which I still sing altho I've never heard it recorded

"Keeps all the hens in the farmyard, fighting amongst themselves x2
Don't let no chicks in the farmyard, lay eggs for no-one else."

I heard an interview with Mick where he stated he got the idea of singing lyrics slightly unintelligably from Fats Domino.

I have always thought Jagger sings "crown" on the studio version, but live in '72 and '73 he did sing "frown" a lot of times, wich I never understood.

maybe he wasn´t able to spell "crown" with his cocaine tongue?

That certainly makes more sense

Wasn't the "Reg Thorpe" thing a mimic of some 60's TV or radio show?
