Funny, I put this one on by request following a party here this evening. Cool, essential Stones studio footage. The rest rubbish.

I have the dvd released last year under the title of "Sympathy for the Devil".
The Godard crazy parts bored me to death.
The studio parts are very cool though.

Yeah, Godard made some really great movies and One plus one is not one of them, its just embarrasing. The Stones are great of course although very sad. Brian clearly frozen out the minute Keith jumps into action. You can tell Brian probably tried to keep up some relation to Mick and be accepted but Keith clearly wouldnt have that. Sad.

I saw it again yesterday on swedish TV. I haveĀ“nt seen it in like 25 years, but I know I thought it was extremely boring, as soon as the Stones were not on. I must say, that the scenes between the studiofootage almost gave me a headache.
I also noticed that Brian is inaudible as usual, tragic.

Anyone knows the names of the two woman helping with the back-up vocals?
Anita P?

It's almost heart breaking watching Keith and Brian in the studio.
Keith is blooming as a guitar player whilst Brian is plainly going downhill.

I recorded the movie last night, and I'm sure gonna make two copies.
One to hide away, with all the crap on, and one to watch,
were I edit and cut away the non-stones material.

--------SPOILER WARNING--------SPOILER WARNING--------SPOILER WARNING--------SPOILER WARNING--------

I think this is a good documentary, but you have to be very intelligent to watch it. After long mathematical research, they find out the answer is indeed two, as was expected. It's good, but a little too difficult for most people.

I guess I should listen more to Simple Minds, cause I guess I've got a simple mind...
I saw the first 20 minutes yeasterday, let my vcr do the rest,
and I don't have a clue about what the movie was about.

Did you notice how Brian seems totally frozen between Keith and Anita and Marianne. He even tries to put his arm around Marianne and lets it slid off. Damn it makes you sad. He was really out of the band and no doubt about it. Losing Anita to Keith was the final nail. Nightmare.

The woo woo backing vocal sequence is very intersting to watch. You have Charlie, Bill, Keith, Brian, Michael Cooper, Marianne, and Anita in there. Keith looks completely into it along with Cooper, Anita, and Marianne. Keith the undeniable leader. Bill and Charlie look bored to tears, while Brian appears to be having fun. The real shame of those studio sessions is the control room seems to have simply turned Brians guitar off completely. Tragic, Brian clearly out of it in a few of the panning shots. I thought the Stones caught in action was very well filmed. As a fan you just want it to go on forever. The film also shows what a great influence Nicky Hopkins had in the studio during the Stones recording sessions over in Barnes. A terrific player he sure was.

...And Brian played a totally other tune... Not the same song.

Saw a lion's share (or a little less than that) of it... Before I fell asleep.
But I always fall asleep in front of the telly. No matter how good.
As usual I have another opinon; I loved the film:

Rock'n'roll life i s indeed boring.
Recording is boring.
Sorry I was way off when it came to thew woo woo part.

I only watched the Stones parts so I don't really know what the movie was about except the fact that it depicted certain events in the year 1968. I was definitely disappointed with the clips from the studio since I had expected it be filmed in a more professional and interesting way. I mean, the director got the chance to shoot several hours with the Stones while recording Sympathy and it was quite boring to watch it after a while because of the lousy camera work and lack of microphones to pick up the conversations between e.g Keith and Brian while both were smoking cigarettes and exchanging a few words during a break.
