Back in 98 as soon as I heard that the show in Milan was definitely cancelled I did lift up the phone and bought tickets for the Wembley No Security shows in june '99.
Guess never in my life, even my wedding, has been as planned in advance as those '99 shows in London.

Still, I'm curious: is there any other place in the world that can claim so many cancelled / posponed shows?

Birmingham, the UK's second city hasn't had a gig since 1973

andy js, remember some lyrics , Mick sings "I´m not going to Birmingham...", was it "Flip The Switch", right?

Sadly, I was on the receiving end of all the postponements/cancellations. The 1998 show was to be my first; I was already halfway to Milano when I got the news about Mick's throat. Oh well, if I get to see as many shows this summer as I did in 1998 I'll be happy nonetheless.

Hello Italy!

I can really feel your disapointment. I was going to see Stones in your beautiful city. I didn´t know about your earlier cancellations, what a shame!

Still coming to Milano, other issues, like good food and wine in my mind..

a little specification:
"2nd cancelled show in 8 years"

cause in 1998 the May 31 concert in san siro was posponed to June 10, and then the 10 morning cancelled with the stage ready in the stadium (everytime I think about it I cry)

Man, I do remember well the june 10th cancellation.
I was at my desk talking to my colleagues about the show that evening and at around 11am a friend of mine calls and says it's cancelled, it was the only show I planned to see for that tour and I felt as if the world was falling on me.

Maybe they could move the show to Rome ...

Not sure where you heard that Milano is a "beautiful city."

To Italy, Milano is what Wichita is to Kansas - its arm pit.

To tell you the truth, Stones concert was the main reason to fly to Milano. After staying 3 days there we are flying to Dublin.

This was a compromise plan: I am Stones Fan and my wife is a fan of Ireland. We`re staying 1,5 weeks in Ireland and after that coming back to Finland (a promised land of monster rock)

So, keep on rockin.. (in this tour there are no RS gigs in Finland..)

I´ve seen Andy playing Wild Horses with a Finnish rock/blues man. It was really good stuff.

Maybe I´ll see some rock clubs in Milano, surely there some? Blues and jazz are not bad either..

I did interview him for Rolling Stone magazine two years ago in Helsinki.
We spent the craziest 12 hours of my life with him.
The photo is taken at Tavastia club.

Those Wembley shows were great, great, great. Do you remember when the whole stadium at the first show sang that Tom Jones song : Delilah. Hope to meet you at Twickenham and also at the new date in Milano ( that will be my first time in this stadium ).

So now we know! It's the Milano's fault.
