Setlist predictions for opening night ?
Posted by: Hanns Rainsch ()

I'd go with with 21 songs, including As Tears Go By, Rain Fall Down replaced by Biggest Mistake and perhaps another rare songs as a tour debut (perhaps Under My Thumb or Have You Seen Your Mother) and maybe (god, I still hope) Out Of Control back in the set.

Chris - theres as much chance of you being told when you get to Iraq that you're taking over from Rumsfeld as there is of us getting a 22-song set in Europe....

and probably quite accurate too, although Midnight Rambler usually means a 20-song set instead of 21. I think they'll maybe drop a song from the length of show theyve been doing up to now, so generally a 19-20 song set.

They don't play YGMR at every show. At 28 shows so far this tour, it was not played.

I like USA's setlist a lot. I have a feeling they'll bust out Streets of Love. Didn't Chuck say they were thinking about it? It'd be a pretty easy song for Keith to play too.

I'd go for a setlist including Sway, Biggest Mistake, This Place is Empty and As Tears Go By.
The other ones may probably be warhorses, but more surprises would of course be highly welcome - not only for the opening night!

Dan: let's hope we've heard the last of LARS, but it occurred to me as well, that it could rear it's ugly head again in Europe....otherwise the only serious flaw in your list is that they'll never again do multiple ballads back-to-back in the show....

Of course we are happy when we see the Stones, but it is normal to have wishes and preferences.

There WILL be another opening night for sure. No sarcasm please, only positive vibes...

Let MicksBrain give you the straight dope (sorry to tell you but it's down to 16 songs):

On stage you spot Ronnie, Charlie, Darryl, And Chuck. A Whole bunch of extra musicians (A mix of Indian and Middle Eastern looking) sitting on a floor covered with beautiful cloth full of colors and exotic designs. Here's the set list:

#1. SING THIS SONG ALL TOGETHER (Mick walks out in his HYDE PARK outfit when the music starts)
Spokensad smileyMick) Thank You very much for coming...Keith will be out in a second...
#2. CONTINENTAL DRIFT (Speed of Life)
#3. HEAVEN
Spoken: Woody..is Woody here? (Ron Wood gets on a stool next to Jagger). ALRIGHT !! We're gonna do one about a girl who's kind of a girl friend but kinda not....
#4. BACKSTREET GIRL (Woody and Mick on Acoustic Guitars, Chuck in spotlight on Accordian)
#5. PRODICAL SON (same set up as above)
Spoken: (Crowd starts yelling for Keith) ALRIGHT !! WILL YOU SHUT UP !! KEITH will be right out so shut up already.. In the mean time , Ladies and Gentlemen, a big hand for Rod Stewart's old mechanic, JEFF BECK !!! ALRIGHT JEFF !!
Jeff plugs in and they rip into:
#6. A 15 minute CAN'T YOU HEAR ME KNOCKING
#7. GOING DOWN
#8. GOING HOME (much longer then AFTERMATH version)
#9. MANNISH BOY
Spoken: (Mick) Thank you Jeff, the original Beck...OK Chuck, Chuck come on up
Chuck sits next to Jagger at a small keybord and rip into:
#10. MELODY
#11. SHE'S A RAINBOW
#12. EMOTIONAL RESCUE
#13. WORRIED ABOUT YOU
Spoken: (Mick) ALRIGHT EVERYBODY, it's time for Keith, Keith , you here? Keith comes out kinda slow and sits next to Ronnie. Ronnie starts playing:
#14. YOU GOT THE SILVER (Keith gets up and leaves the stage while Ronnie wraps it up)
Spoken: Mick comes out and says THANK YOU KEITH. The band starts in with:
#15. SATISFACTION played in a very middle Eastern style - almost sounds like "Sing This Song All Together (see what happens) Mick yells out Goodnight !! and waves
ENCORE
Mick comes out and does
#16. AS TEARS GO BY (solo) THANK YOU EVERYBODY !!!! GOODNIGHT !!! (Mick and Band leave the stage to an extended, pre-recorded WE LOVE YOU playing through the PA as glitter falls on the departing audience....

This is a bit of wishful thinking and a way to cope with the lack of news that is getting me more worried by the day. But others seem to have engaged in it before, so I will give it a shot:

1. Rocks Off (People are surprised, but it has been used as an opener before I think)
2. Rip this Joint (Hmm, that's interesting; two Exile songs that are not uncommon, but back to back...)
3. Shake Your Hips (Are they really going to play the whole damn album?
4. Casino Boogie (The crowd reacts with a roar)
5. Tumbling Dice (I am actually having an orgasm right then and there)
6. Sweet Virginia (I will spare you what happens next)
7. Torn and Frayed
8. Sweet Black Angel
9. Loving Cup
10. Happy
11. Turd on the Run
12. Ventilator Blues
13. Just Wanna See His Face
14. Let It Loose
15. All Down the Line
16. Stop Breaking Down
17. Shine a Light
18. Soul Survivor

Encores (No pause b/w songs)
19. Paint It Black
20. 2000 Light Years From Home
21. Sympathy for the Devil
22. Gimme Shelter
23. Jumpin' Jack Flash

What's that suppose to mean? Last post about Keith on RS.COM is 5/11 (+7 = 5/18) Over a week ago. Barcelona was suppose to be in one week and they still have it up there as tickets for sale. Real professional way to treat people that give them thousands of Euro's/Dollars. Maybe my show is the way it's gonna go down, how do you know? (I'd love to see that one)....In the mean time step out side for air after you read RS.COM......The ONLY news we get is when BV or KENO talks to insiders - that's pathetic (as 10's of thousands wait everyday to hear what's happening - see if their plans are f*cked up or not. Now I need to go outside)
