That's Taylor.

Listen to Bill's bass on this - GREAT.
Just wonder why people say that Stones are just average musicians - Bill knows his bass playing.

Bill's playing during '81 was out of this world. His playing on Just My Imagination might be his finest moment with the Stones.

I forgot about Keith playing on Pretty Beat Up. Another highlight of a Stones guitarists playing bass (and an altogether great song)

Pure enjoyment - the best band ever - almost 10 min of great jamming:

Keith's bass on Pretty Beat Up is pretty good and the highlight of a particularly dire ditty - it's only redeemng feature infact. What an excuse for a 'song' that was.

On a more positive note - Keith's bass on Brand New Car- also completely uplifts and transorms the tune. Buoyant bass. Best bass-playing on the whole VL album, (though frankly there is little 'competition'!)

Keith always has a great bass sound. How come he get that almost rubber-like sound every time? Suits every track he plays on.

Song should've been on Still Life.

Keith - Yer Blues

After the guitar solo he comes in out of sync as compared with the rest of the band...but otherwise not bad bass playing

I think the last 'all Bill' album is Sticky Fingers, recorded mainly in '69 and '70 before Keith's drug habit(s) took control.

After that Keith's drug habit and associated lifestyle became his way of life. And this way of living and recording did not agree with Bill.

Presumably that is why he was less present and they found that they could do his job in his absence.

I love GHS but it has the least Bill of any Stones's album.

I think the guitarists have always created the most interesting, inventive bass lines - but Bill understands the 'feel' of the instrument in a band context - the imortance of tone, swing, emphasis and 'punch' (where required).

Carl Radle is another example of a great bass player whose greatness lay not in his abilility to be a virtuoso (a la Jack Bruce or Stanley Clarke for example) but in a far less egotistical and empathetic ability or 'consciousness' to strengthen, fill out the whole sound in a way which was complimentary to and united and bound with all the other rhythm and lead instruments. A Glue.

Monkey Grip Glue!

I guess Bill's only 'virtuoso' bass line on which a song is based(!) is Miss You.

Mick Taylor - Coming Down Again

Keith - Casino Boogie (not technically great, but very soulful).

Didn't Jagger play some bass on Bigger Bang?

Pretty Beat Up is in my top ten Stones songs -this is all about drive, aggression and sexual energy. Fantastic bass, fantastic sax by David Sanborn. This is true party.

Yeah, Mick definitely played bass on a couple of tracks, though I cannot remember which.

If thye had been a bit more experimental, they could have played the song in a theater show, maybe also "must be hell". They could have arranged the songs for playing live, and then it would have been two great live songs in smaller places. Sorry to admit, but Mick & Co. could learn a bit from U2 (taking more chances with songs).
