The waltz in rock and pop.

Although it may seem like a contradictio (in so far as a waltz and rock should implicate different rhytyms), I was wondering if anyone could mention any rock or pop song that follows a 3/4 or 6/8 beat.

The only one I can think of is Sonny & Cher's "I got you babe".

Interesting post. We can work it out Paul and John wrote it but George changed Johns part to waltz-style.

Oh man 6/8 is a GREAT time signature. Sting loves it. (Not that Sting is great tho..) All those 50's doo wop songs that do the C-Am-F-G thing are in 6/8 or even 12/16.
"Dear Doctor" is in 3's.
the Betales are smart when it comes to time sig's. E.g on "We can work it out" the main body of the song (by Paul) bops along in 4's but the bridge by John ("Life is very short"..has a little guitarline at the tag that slips into 6/8).

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

Frank Zappa used to love 3s! When he conducted 3/4 rhytms with his baton (or a drum stick), he used to draw this vertical triangular figure in the air all the time.
"The Idiot Bastard Son"... "Who Are the Brain Police?"... "Holiday in Berlin"... "Sofa"... "Strictly Genteel"... "Nanook Rubs It"...
They seem to get scarcer from the mid 70s on though.

Some Velvet Morning, esp. Nancy's part.

Johns part yes, but to play it like a waltz is Georges (Harrissons) idea.

In his autobiography Miles Davis blames Hendrix's drummer Mitch Mitchell for playing all the time in 6/8! Slightly off - topic, is remarkable Max Roach's effort to play jazz in 3/4 in his record "Jazz in 3/4", which is really good!
