Autumn with the Stones

This time of year reminds me of those magical autumns when the Stones had a new album out and were going on the road - Tattoo, Wheels, Voodoo, Bridges, Bang. Great to listen to them and relive the excitement and memories of years gone by.

Maybe next year?

I remember buying Goats Head Soup in early September 73 and then going to see them at Wembley Empire Pool later that month. Boy, were they hot that night.

Yeah, I got GHS for my 13th birthday - my folks hadn't heard "Star, Star"! My 1st real exposure to the Stones.

I really dug "100 Years Ago" - still do.

As far as I can remember wasn't It's Only Rock'n'Roll also an autumn release. Funny that you mention this because I always have Zeppelin down as a Spring band. At least Houses Of The Holy, Physical Graffiti and Presence all kinda emerged around that time. Weird the way bands can seem seasonal. Always thought The Who were quite autumnal - at least their albums. Bowie sounds best in Spring to my ears. The Stones sounds good anytime though.

....,.....,philosophically trying,Tod ?

Goats Head Soup really is an autumn album for me ,too, because of some kind of melanchony...
Just listened yesterday, and it´s amazing how it grew over the years (for me).
Beside Mr D,which I still consider to be the weakest Stones album opener it definetly
consists of some brilliant tracks.
Hide your Love,Winter,100 years ago,Coming down again,Heartbreaker...without Exile it would surely be regarded and rated much higher.

For almost any other band that time it would´ve been the breakthrough,masterpiece...

I love, love, love, LOVE Goat's Head Soup!
I bought the CBS cassette back in 1989 and have loved it ever since. Never understood the Boomer Rock Media panning it. Weak effort? It's rich, melodic and has some of the most beautiful lyrics ever to come out of Mick OR Keith.

I really can't recall them all, but I remember Sticky and Emotinal Rescue as summer releases and Ya Ya's as a winter release

My memories...

autumn = "Between the Buttons"

It was the time that I've discovered this album.

GHS was the first Stones album I anxiously awaited the release of. I discovered the Stones through Hot Rocks - also in the Fall, so autumn is very resonant for me as well.
