Field in 1982 was 35 guilders, for that time, for me as a 17 year old, also a lot of money!

At least you were there. If having been there makes you sick right now I wouldn't mind having been there.

Back in 17th century Rembrandt painted his masterpieces for a few hundred euro...

But serious: In 1970 a house was about 25.000 euro. Now (2005) that same house is worth 200.000 euro, or even more...

Prices rise, nothing new...

All true. And comparing prices from 82 with 2005 isn't the best way to show prices went up way too much. So let's compare the ticket prices from 2003 with 2005. Just check your tickets. Need I say more.....

I can't blame people are bitching about the high prices! We all want to see our favourite band. But not everybody can afford it. And that's a shame.

I paid 70 Euro for U2 last year in the same stadium, similar show, same organisation behind the tour, same company that build the stage etc. But only way cheaper. And U2 are the hottest band at the moment.

It's fact the Stones are in it for the money. Rock 'n Roll comes in 3rd place!

There was no show in the Kuip in 1981.

If you can't afford it... you can't go. Or you have to give up something else, it's the choises you make yourself. I choose to see the Stones, no matter what.

And... a Stones concert is no Human Right!

1981 US Tour: $15

2005 US Tour: $450

What's your point?

I think US suffered the most from the price increase. However I am surprised about the increase in Germany. I don't think that Suttgart will sell all that well as the Swabians are like Scots and save every penny. So I am wondering.
Or we will get another support act like AC/DC

It is a thing called inflation. You pay the same in value but the face value of the money - the number printed on the bills - is increasing. But as we get older we tend to nag about prices all the time, because all we can remember is how fantsticly low prices were in the previous millenium. All prices are increasing. Even beer and ice cream, in fact anything, is incresing price wise. And decreasing size wise. Luckily the Stones started to perform for 25 minutes and even in the 60's and 70's shorter sets than today, so you still get two hours of fatastic rock'n roll.

Very expensive but this only about the ticket price.
In the past, tickets were cheaper and there were A LOT OF @#$%&' GREAT BANDS IN FIRST PART.
In 1982 in Paris, at the second show, before the stones jump on stage, we have seen,
first : George Thorogood
second : J. Geils Band
Third : Telephone (french rock'n'roll group)
Fourth : the rolling stones.
All that in the same afternoom for about 14 euros

NB : When the stones recorded in pathe marconi studios in paris in 1977, they have jammed with the french group Telephone who recorded their album in the same building too. We know they played Bye Bye Johny.

Everytime the Stones announce a tour people start complaining about high ticketprices. I remember the discussions from 1982.
Here's a short ticketprice history from old Dutch shows.

1995 NLG 65,00 (EUR 29,50) Landgraaf, Nijmegen and Rotterdam.
1995 Paradiso 2 shows NLG 25,00 (EUR 11,35)
Keith Richards solo 04-12-1992 Rotterdam Ahoy NLG 42,50 (EUR 19,30) I'm still deaf at one side!
Field tickets for Rotterdam (3 shows) 1990 Urban Jungle Tour; NLG 60,00 (EUR 27,25)
Fieldtickets for Rotterdam (3 shows) 1982 NLG 40,00 (EUR 18,18)
Much cheaper in 1976,; I paid NLG 25,00 ( EUR 11,35) for The Hague (2 shows)
Same price 3 years earlier;NLG 25,00 in 1973 (The great Ahoy shows) Price quality wise never been topped.
09-10-1970 Amsterdam Rai builing, Stephan Stills show NLG 15,00 (EUR 6,80)
15-04-1967 The Hague Houtrusthall. Minister Luns show NLG 10,00 (EUR 4,50)
26-03-1966 Den Bosch Brabanthall. The drunken show NLG 10,00 (EUR 4,50)
08-08-1964 The Hague the famous riot show at the Kurhaus. NLG 7,50 (EUR 3,40)

Those were the days my friend. It's all history. And history will be made again soon...

You can't compare prices from 20 years ago with todays prices. But, until now I never mind paying the price the Stones asked, until this very tour. The last tour I didn't even think about the price of a ticket, I just bought tickets for the shows I wanted to see. This tour it's the first time I don't do that. This tour is the first time I think "wait, 115 euro for a stadium show?". This time you don't just buy 8 tickets for friends and family -it sets you back 1000 euro's, an entire vacation.

If a holiday would only cost me a thousand euro, I would go four times a year, or even more! What travel agency Mathijs?

Well, maybe not a family vacation in Italy for two weeks...but 5 days London, a week in Barcalona or a beach holiday in Egypt for a week should be able...if you leave the kids at home!

Mr. Luns attended the show like other politicians do.
Fenway Park August 21 2005 had The govenor of California Mr.Arnold Schwarzenegger who was scalping T shirts and selling a few tickets.
The Paradiso Club gig had the Dutch Crown Price William in 1995.
