I'm with Spearshaker on this one, Slipping Away is a great Stones song, despite the rather slick production/cold digital sound of SW. (Evocative, poetic yet clear, a song with something universal & personal to say, a meditation on mortality, the fleeting nature of everything we care about). Well SA is a way better song imo than 'Wanna Hold You' - which I also have a perverse liking for, probably due to my endless fascination w/ THAT album's mix. The band has a good groove going on there too. I also like the Worst, not on the same level as SA, but a brief, engaging track on VL - with many nice musical details, including the Frankie Gavin fiddle and Ron's pedal steel, and some of K's warmest vocals. It worked live this tour way better than in '94, performed w/ more life & confidence, and I like the new-to-this-years-version contributions by Tim Ries and Bernard.
