Slipping Away is a brilliant song - lyrics, melody, arrangement, mood, feel, -- it has it all.

Each of Keith's sets will have a slow ballad, followed by an up-tempo number. Slipping Away is one of Keith's greatest ballad compositions.

I'm with Spearshaker on this one, Slipping Away is a great Stones song, despite the rather slick production/cold digital sound of SW. (Evocative, poetic yet clear, a song with something universal & personal to say, a meditation on mortality, the fleeting nature of everything we care about). Well SA is a way better song imo than 'Wanna Hold You' - which I also have a perverse liking for, probably due to my endless fascination w/ THAT album's mix. The band has a good groove going on there too. I also like the Worst, not on the same level as SA, but a brief, engaging track on VL - with many nice musical details, including the Frankie Gavin fiddle and Ron's pedal steel, and some of K's warmest vocals. It worked live this tour way better than in '94, performed w/ more life & confidence, and I like the new-to-this-years-version contributions by Tim Ries and Bernard.

He sings out; but the Vegas version was too slow,
as were the San Diego.

"All I want is ecstasy
But I ain't getting much
Just getting off on misery
It seems I've lost my touch
Well it's just another song
But it's slipping away"

...I believe Slippin & Infamy are good live numbers;
but I´m also sure he will.
My deepest wish here though, is to hear the man singing
Connection & also hold the vocals on Gimme Shelter
plus co-sing on Memory Motel... And, yeah, let him share Mike
with Mick on LC...

"I feel so humble with you tonight,
Just sitting in front of the fire.
See your face dancing in the flame,
Feel your mouth kissing me again,
What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz,
What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz.
Oooooooooooh, what a beautiful buuuuuuzzzzzzzzz,
what a beautiful buzz."

Babboon Bro you familiar with the '93 KR EP "Eileen" - besides the Main Offender version of the title track you get three live tracks, including a very fine "Gimmie Shelter" with Sarah Dash on 2nd lead vocals. I remember that '93 US tour, being absolutely floored by the intensity right from the first number: a bone crunching take on Eddie Cocharan's "Something Else"

Well, John, I´m not sure actually.
Got the GS version posted by my Norweigan uncle,
born 1956. I´ll pm you, maybe you can post or link
me to that version & I can compare... Ok?

Slipping Away is the best Keith song, i just love it and i would love to hear it live, and he must play one ABB song, Infamy is easy to play and sing.

There's only one lousy Keith song - Infamy
It's the only filler on A Bigger Bang and truly dreadful IMHO.
I think that even Can't Be Seen is a masterpiece compared to Infamy.

Keith has a lot of great songs:

Happy
Before they make me run
Little T&A
You got the silver (mindblowing)
Thru and Thru
the worst
Slipping away (truly beautiful, i think i want this played at my funeral)
This place is empty

Also like all three of keiths songs on BtB, like the two slow ones closing the album, love the jazz ending with the drum embellishments and sax on how can i stop.

You could make a KILLER cd of keiths STONES songs, would be great!

I remember seeing keith do Before they make me run at the astoria 2003, and , i can see why he does his "solo, no guitar" thing on some songs, His guitar was so @#$%& loud on this song, but he wasn't playing all the chords / all the way through the song, so it became really obvious and didnt sound too good when he wasn't strumming. It was kind of cool in a 'keith' messy sort of way, but a lot of VERY load bar chords here and there...
