You make excellent points.
I just recently went to see Exodus (a metal band most of you have probably never heard), and they played 9 out of 10 songs off their new album (quite good, too), and played NONE of the hits off their best album because the singer on that album quit, and the band is too pissed to let the new singer even sing them.
It was a good show, but the crowd was terribly disappointed that the band basically punished the crowd because they're pissed off at their old singer.

Sounds kind of like Fogerty's grudge when he wouldn't play CCR stuff. Thank goodness he finally got over it and is really rockin' the place now!
