Keep on rocking

Shine a Light

Musikdokumentarfilm von Martin Scorsese, USA 2008
Mit Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ron Wood,
Christina Aguilera, Jack White, Buddy Guy u.a.
Erstausstrahlung

[kurz]

"Shine a Light" montierte Scorsese aus insgesamt 150 Kilometern gedrehtem Filmmaterial.

"Shine A Light" will already air tonight on the public Austrian broadcasting channel ORF2, at 11:05 PM CET (sadly, a tad too late for me, as I have to get up early tomorrow for work - will watch it on 3sat next Saturday):

have been watching it today feel the sound IS unfortably mixed
otherwise great fun

I like the scene when Bill Clinton was talking with them
and they atced kinda like well behaved guys, when they really wanted to
make mockery of everything, as they always do, Micks expression is priceless

and Micks camillion accent when he says "Hellooouuu" to the Clintons mother

great fun !

love the movie. SWH is awesome, and there are other great moments. only really weak point: the booooooring and far too long crap version of "just my imagination"....oh dear! that sucks.

Is it right that it runs too fast comparing it to the cinema version I saw last year and to the "Shine a Light" CD?

it was a great evening. During the movie I got some sms from my friends with "ohh.. and ahhh .. cool (Keith on you got the silver".. it is not the same to see it on TV than on DVD.Another feeling. A kind of proudness is there.. "our boys on tv".. felt like I am a little child/teenager.

This was discussed here when Shine a Light was released on dvd in Europe, cannot find the link right now, but here's some technical advice:

Thank you very much, so I'm right. 4% have a disturbing effect for me. The band seems to rush through the set. The momentum of the music is lost in my opinion.

4% speed-up is indeed rediculous and has kept me from buying SAL so far.
this doesn't occur on NTSC and Blue Ray though and I'm quite sure TV 3-SAT can afford it. winking smiley

so the question remains: did they air the pitch correct version?

I guess no, I heard the CD today and it was a great difference between the version on 3Sat and the CD. But it is only my impression and it's from memory. Though I saw some tracks on Youtube, I think the tempo was okay there, so I guess, 3Sat aired the uptempo-version.

Yeah, they make it that the band sounds like a Mickey Mouse Orchestra and MJ is dancing like Charly Chaplin ... lousy thing ... so it remains to buy the Blue Ray-version. Best wihes RJ.

searching the web about the airing of SAL on 3 SAT.

Shine A Light
3 SAT
Rolling Stones
Martin Sorcese
4%
Speedup
mickey Mouse
out of tune
over a half tone higher
pitched
body of work.............

it's @#$%& rediculous, no one seems to care!
a lot of points mentioned just direct back here to IORR.

isn't it about time for some Rolling Stones lawyers to take action against those mindless twits that are stabbing at the Stone's body of work by making the band indeed sound like a Mickey Mouse Orchestra and MJ dancing like Charly Chaplin?

I mean it is understandable to release Robert Johnson's recordings from the 30'ies when no one knew how it shoulda been.
in these 'Tech' days though - it's like building up the new Twin Towers and screwing up with imperial and metric messurements and nobody cares why they look like bananas!
grrrrr. I'm steamin'!

You can keep your money, PAL!

Nope, it's not!
the issue between the PAL and NTSC/Blu Ray version has been discussed here when the DVD release was announced.

Only this time the movie was aired for the general public on TV as a premierein the wrong freakin'pitch !!!
get it?
