Someone asked if there are any "Bigger Bang" album outtakes circulating, which got me thinking: 'Which Stones album sessions have outtakes that have been botted-or circulate among collectors".
While extensive track and bootleg lists appear elsewhere in print and online, here is a quick "yes-no" check-list, based on album sessions, 1967 ("Their Satanic Majesties Requests" to 2004-05 "A Bigger Bang" (Not sure about early sessions 1962-66):
Their Satanic Magesties Request (1967)--yes
Beggars Banquet (1968)-yes
Let It Bleed (r-1968-69)-yes
Sticky Fingers (r-1969-71)-yes
Exile On Main Street (r-1969-72)-yes
Goats Head Soup (r-1970-73)-yes
It's Only Rock n Roll (r-1973-74)-yes (just saw a CD titled "It's Only Goats Head Soup (But We Like it)" on a Japanesse web site--looked interesting.
Black and Blue (r-1974/75/76)-yes
Some Girls n(r-1977/78) yes
(Lets not forget the LA/Hollywood sessions of Summer-fall 1978)-yes
Emotional Rescue (1979/80)-yes
Tatto You (r1973-81)-yes
Undercover (1982/83)-yes
Dirty Work (1985)-yes
Steel Wheels (1989)--I'm not sure....some tracks claim to be "outtakes", but are actually B-sides, like Fancy Man Blues)
makes me realise how rubbish my collection of stones stuff is.. if it's not an offical release there isn'tmuch else i have apart from a few boots from licks tour
didn't they do about 200 songs when they did the paris sessions for Fortly Licks as well.. don't think any of them have come out
In 1989, there was a New York Times (magazine?, it wasn't in the main newspaper), there was an interview with Keith Richards. It was after initial work on Steel Wheels had begun: the interviewer mentions that Keith played him a work tape from the 1989 sessions. I've always wondered if that tape leaked out into collectors hands (and ears!).
I wanna say this interview appeared in the spring (Apr-May?) of 1989....I'd bet its listed in a New York Times index. I'd love to have the interview.

I believe these two albums have got no outtakes because the outtakes are already included in these albums...
Interesting thread. Although the albums are a useful way of bracketing the outtakes it's probably more accurate to just use the recording session dates as some fall in between albums or weren't necessarily ever intended for the next album. A few years ago I started a huge list of the titles of outtakes, ticking off those I had, so I had some idea how many were left to get. I might try and update this and print it here to pool resources with hundreds of other Stones nuts. It's a bit of a minefield with several tracks known by 2, 3, even 4 or more different names. Instrumentals are tricky to pin down without lyrics to give you any clues. There must have been over 100 titles in my list and this was before the Voodoo Lounge outtakes! It did include 'mythical' tracks though like 'English Summer' from '67 which probably don't exist.
By the way Redrum, does that Japanese site have a track list for the 'It's Only Goats Head Soup (But We Like It)' boot? What a great name!
"It's Only Goats Head Soup (But We Like It)" is listed as "sold out" on the Japanesse site. Thus, you can't click on the album and see any additional information. There is some Japanesse writing next to it:
ROLLING STONES?@‚r‚n‚k‚c‚n‚t‚s?I /IT`S ONLY GOAT`S HEAD SOUP...GUT WE LIKE IT (ƒfƒWƒpƒbƒNŽd—l)

Most interesting: "Time Waits For No One [Long-Version]". Is the solo of Mick Taylor longer on this version as on the realized track?
