Can't believe this thread has made it to five pages.

Indeed.....this is a thread "I wished had never been released".Jeez man, I'm a Stones fan, haven't participated on this board much over the years. I follow it a bit, but decided to participate a little recently, but find myself wanting to defend the recent catalog on here the same way I do friends and family that are casual fans or one time fans that are "too cool" to like the recent (last 20-30 yrs) stuff, and say "The Stones haven't released anything since Some Girls or Tattoo You.....", etc, etc....What kind of fans come on to a fan board to slam The Stones or want to ponder what shouldn't have been released, etc...makes no sense to me. Just my opinion.

i hate 'fool to cry.' its ridiculous and has the most disgusting string synthesizer arrangement outside of a styx record, and that is hell bad in its own right

'emotional rescue' (the song) aka 'poverty stricken women from south america get me horny' sucks

my girl (cover) is horrid

'can you hear the music' - no, i can't. all i hear is crap

'wanna hold you' - keith don't get off neither

'I hope you find it funny
That I got no money
But if you stick with me
You're gonna get some love for free '

yeah. a millionaire (hell, billionaire, for all I know) is gonna get some chick to bang 'im because he's 'got no money.' how long did it take keef to think this crap up? and what did he do with the rest of the minute?

Very well stated and spot on.

There's only a few Stones songs that I genuinely cant listen to - I could probably count them on one hand. Plus, when you follow a band's career that has lasted this long, the dips in quality are just part of the jigsaw.

I could'nt agree more, 50 years of recording/writing material..... You CAN'T please everyone all the time ..... one mans meat is another man's poisen drinking smiley

Under The Boardwalk does it for me: it's just awful.

Streets of Love. I wish they'd never come up with that.

I combed their discography and came up with a list of useless 60s songs, I skip these every time.

Come On
Off the Hook
Pain in My Heart
Hitch Hike
Cry To Me
One More Try
Stupid Girl
What to Do
My Girl
Under the Boardwalk
Mothers Little Helper
Have You Seen Your Mother Baby
Cool, Calm, Collected
Something Happened to me Yesterday
In Another Land
Gomper
On with the Show

(edited to include Under the Boardwalk)

The worst song of the Stones is "Congratulations"from the early 60s.

I wasn't going to weigh in but the Devil made me do it! Ok, so I think that most of Dirty Work is awful, except ONE HIT. I never listen to Emotional Rescue, and I agree, " Anyway You Look At It" must be one of the top 5 all-time worst Stones songs! ARG! A funeral dirge....drags on and on...however, you're forgetting why some of these songs aren't top shelf. It's because when Mick and Keith are trying to make a deadline, the crap flows. When Mick writes for fun and is not pressured you get a much better result.
I can't believe there are so many who hate SOL, so much...come on, it is NOT that bad, and LIVE, it's totally different and enjoyable.I also love Continental Drift,( very hypnotic!) & Mixed Emotions,& Rain Fall Down . As for Mick using a rhyming dictionary, don't be so naive and critical...they ALL do! ( or at least a great many writers do). I have to be honest, it's the Keith songs that are the clunkers on most albums.

Kind of wish they would re-record some old songs with a modern spin. Would be interesting I think.

Goats Head Soup is a great album except for Angie and Doo doo Heartbreaker. If they had left those two songs off the album and put on another two from It's only rock in roll it would have been a classic album.

Its only Rock n Roll could also have been better album without, aint to proud to beg and fingerprint file.

Let's face it, they haven't put out much of anything really good since Tattoo You, and that's an awfully long time ago. Stripped was good but there wasn't anything new on it, and it's kind of telling that all the better stuff they did with Ron in the band still had M.Taylor in the backround, maybe not playing but still involved somehow. Have they ever written a really good song since Ian Stuart died? Seem's to me they needed his guidance, or somebody's atleast? And left on their own they've never recovered.

An idea for a compilation album: THE FANS' DISLIKES ALBUM.

Dependent only on how it was arranged as to playing order,of course, it would have made a great album. What a band!

"songs you wished the stones had never recorded/released"

ALL the songs with drug references... That'd leave serious holes in the band's discography!

Goddamn. That never would've occured to me. But as soon as I read it, I could almost picture
it in my mind's ear...and it certainly would be a thing. Yes, indeed. Perhaps someday,
up in heaven...

hm...what's your thing re: drugs...? I seem to recall your having me banned from iorr for mentioning
something about cocaine and American culture in the '80s that you didn't like -- bit of a touchy spot
for you, I guess?

There's no Stones song that I wish they hadn't done. Sure, there are tunes that I like a lot less than others, but as far as what they do, or have done...they are cool w/ me.
