Sweet Neo Con Lyrics
Posted by: Ross ()
Date: August 19, 2005 14:54

I wasn't sure if this has been posted yet, if it has, sorry bout that!

SWEET NEO CON

"You ride around your white castle,
On your little white horse
You lie to your people,
and blame it on your war of course

"You call yourself a Christian,
I call you a hypocrite
You call yourself a patriot,
well I think you're full of shit

"Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time for the atom bomb?

"You parade around in costume,
Expecting to be believed
But as the body bags stack up,
We believe we've been deceived

"The horror you've unleased,
Will backfire with more grief
When will you ever learn,
Sweet Neo Con, as the world burns?

"Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time for the atom bomb?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
What path have you led them on?
Oh, sweet Neo Con,
Is it time to drop the bomb?"

Interesting!!

not as powerful as Dylan's "Masters of war" but really interesting!
Mick still has it!

I agree! As usual, Keith is right on the money. It's not "metaphorical" at all, and it would have been a lot more effective had it been a bit more vague less in-your-face.

Did Ted Kennedy write these lyrics?

At least, judging from the :30 snippet, the song seems to have a decent groove. Maybe it will be strong on a musical level!

I have no problems with the Lyrics - its about time people start vocalizing their opinions about this war - maybe this song will be a catalyst............

WTF??? Ross, you should have done a better job on Sweet Neo Con. The original lyrics aren't really good, but yours aren't any better!

Amen to that... John Fogerty really started it off with a great song last year "Deja Vu"... Bruce Springsteen then launched a series of concerts to raise awareness about what a FRAUD this "war" is...

Bush was led by the nose by a gang of clever Trotskyites called the Neo-Cons, its just all very plainly obvious to anybody who studies the policy-making apparatus of this administration. Just do a Google on "Neo-Cons" and "Securing the Realm" and youll see that the Neo-Cons had planned to plant the entire U.S. military in the heart of the middle east for a long time.

Because the Neo-Cons are tightly wired into the media it's been withheld from the American people.... many Americans actually think this war is about "Freedom" or "Democracy" or "Oil"...

The crafty Neo-Cons who control and set policy for the Bush Junior administration have so far managed to pull the wool over America's eyes... but slowly the people are waking up to this monstrous lie...

Hopefully more musicians will bring it to public attention like they did in Vietnam.

He CL... Creedence lives indeed. What a great band. Sadly forgotten by a lot of people. John Fogerty is up there with the best songwriters in rock 'n roll. That man wrote some incredible songs. Was just listening to I put A spell On you. What a classic song!

Yes, there are no artists with opinions on the war against Sadam Hussein and terror - nice to see Mick doing a real nasty song against an American president. Hasnt been done before.

Yo Rutger, high five... if you want to listen to some FANTASTIC music... not one bad song on either of these albums:

1) "Recollection" by Creedence Clearwater Revisited, incredible LIVE album
2) "Chronicle"... the Greatest Hits of CCR... I'm prolly on my 5th copy of this by now.

I know both these albums... isn't a amazing? Every song is a must listen! Sad enough a lot people have forgotten them..

What???

Is this another language barrier thing? The lyrics I posted were not mine! They were from a site (I posted the link) that stated they were the official lyrics. It was pointed out later in the thread by someone who had heard the whole song that the lyrics differed.

Are you kidding me?

Read it all again..very slowly!

"I Put A Spell On You" was written by Screamin Jay Hawkins, by the way! NOT John Fogerty

i think it's pretty obvious that most of those on the left side of the aisle like or at least find the SNC lyrics interesting, while those on the right do not. end of story. next?

Not so fast, my friend! I tend to lean to the right (not to the extreme by any means, however), but as a Stones fan I am thrilled to see them actively pursuing relevancy like this! I like the IDEA of the song and I do find the lyrics very interesting, My problem is with the clunky execution (IMO).

I think it could have been done more effectively and artistically with a less obvious approach. My being lukewarm about the lyrics has nothing to do with my political leanings.

BUT...apparently the lyrics I have seen aren't even the actual lyrics...I might like the actual song even better.

Ross - check my post again - the word "most" is the qualifier. I stick by my analysis.

Perhaps! But, conversely, I cant imagine a majority of left-side Stones fans saying "those are good lyrics" either.

But, you said "interesting" and based on the buzz that the song is generating in both camps, my analysis would be that the majority of BOTH sides find the lyrics at least "interesting".

Bush isn't a neo-con, rigth?

As one who is troubled deeply by the adminsitration in virtually all its activities at home and abroad, let me say that my favorite frontman's lyrics don't rate the adjective "interesting."

"Street Fighting Man," "Salt of the Earth" and, yes Keith, "Sweet Black Angel" are interesting songs that touch on ideas about power and responsibility and political action. Pretty amazing stuff, actually. And open-ended enough to grant the audience a role in making its own sense of both the lyrics and their possible applications.

"Neo Con" is a childish rant. It's now in heated competition with "Rock And A Hard Place" as lamest Stones song ever.

No, Presidunce Bush Jr. is the perfect puppet stooge of the neo-cons.

Bush Jr. has always been a "conservative" of sorts... the term "neo-con" means "newly conservative" or "former trotskyite bolshevik who has turned conservative"...

The Neo-Cons tend to be professors, theorists, policy wonks who have nearly total administrative control of the Pentagon, the National Security Agency (Condi Rice's office), the Defense Policy Board, and perhaps most importantly, the Vice President's Office, which is led by perhaps the uber-neocon.

The Neo Cons were responsible for, among other things, setting up a Lie Factory in the Pentagon called the "Office of Special Plans" (google that)... where shards of half-truths were spun together to create "intelligence" for the Presidunce that was not vetted by the C.I.A.

For a great backgrounder on the Neo-Cons and their mission, google "Neo-Con" and "Securing the Realm"....

I know a bit about neocons already, but thanks anyway.

Why write a song about a neocon that's not a neocon? I don't get it. Could the song be about someone else than Bush?

Well put, Rev. The songs you mention are much more thought-provoking without clubbing anyone over the head with their point. SBA is a GREAT example!

Condoleezza Rice is up to the way to go to the vampire party, forgot her garlic brooche.

Mick's allready waiting ...

A keepin' papers on me six feet high ...

Really? I haven't read any such remarks from music critics. I actually think the song (musically speaking) is among the highlights of the album.
