A much better CD than Steel Wheels and a great tour to boot!

Birth of my second son in December 1994. Great times. Your thoughts?

For those who weren't listening, my first date with my wife was the Steel Wheels tour.

Vastly overrated. Terrible lyrics, should have had half of the album thrown out. Considering how good Wandering Spirit was this was a huge let down

"I was a hooker, losing my looks"...

Oh, please.....

Compared to Steel Wheels it is Exile/Stick/Bleed/Beggars/Soup.

Million times better.

A great 'modern' day Stones album.

Agree with skipstone. Goodbye Bill, hello Darryl. The modern era starts here. Best album since "Some Girls", in my opinion. Still listen to it -- a great CD for the car. Best played LOUD.

it's better than all their records this century...i'll say that much....

Bang is more immediate. Bridges is more eclectic. Voodoo is more...classic.

immediater; ecleticer; classicer. got it.

Voodoo is awful to me. Dow Was trying way too hard to force a classic. Maybe if we cram as many different 'classic' styles on this disc, they won't notice the second rate song writing. Don Was forgot about the Blues though.
Sparks,Sweethearts, Jugular,Rainbows, Rockin are lousy.
But it is still a Stones album - when it is good it is awesome. Love is Strong, Out of Tears, I Go Wild and all of Keith's stuff.

I agree. Their worst album ever, honestly.

The greatest thing the stones have done since theyve been past it!

Ok, like some posts above. A bit lackluster and too many sub par songs that just don't leave their imprint...and some embarrassingly bad lyrics!
Much prefer Bridges to Babylon over Voodoo...

Like B2B and ABB, a 5-star record if they cut it to ten songs--in this case losing sweethearts together, I go Wild, and possibly Sparks will fly and new faces.

Great song that needs to be played live is "Mean Disposition," which is not on the LP version.

I agree with the above except it would be a 3 star album. some things can't rise above.

Half of the album is good, half of it is shit.

The tour was great though.

A good modern day stones album, but some of the tracks stink (Jugular, Rainbows etc.). First four songs are killer, imo. And LIS is the best stones single since SMU.

Liked everything about it, not one bad thing about. The name, the album, the stage, and the changing setlists. This was the first tour I saw them multiple times. A super memory!

Good album but would've been better if they cut it down to 10 songs.

Most mediocre tour I saw.

Once the massive hype around the CD/tour that was broadcast by MTV Europe had subsided, I was left with a mediocre rock album that I never played and eventually gave away. VL is marginally better than the risible Bridges to Babylon.

Probably one of their weakest albums...
But I still enjoy these:

Love Is Strong
The Worst
Moon Is Up
Blinded By Rainbows
Thru and Thru
Mean Disposition
The Storm
So Young
Jump On Top Of Me

So, with one more song it would be a pretty good 10-track album, after all!

(It needs another rocker, so maybe You Got Me Rocking or I Go Wild (Scott Litt Remix) or I´m Gonna Drive)

Great album and my first tour (my fav stage also). When they played Love is strong on last tour it was one of the best moment of the show. But I can't say that is better then Steel Wheels.

I agree, except I'd say 4 star instead of 5. 5 stars is reserved for Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile and Some Girls.

I think Voodoo Lounge is slightly overrated. Sure, the sound and feel is a little more retro, but it all feels a little forced.

Ooops! Sorry, I thought this was a Rolling Stones fan board. I think the CD is great. A few losers but hell that's true of almost every album.

I've always liked the sound of the album, the lyrics are not so hot but I like this record. I get sick of comparing latter day albums to say Exile. its not the same band they were in their early fifties and its pretty damn good for guys their age. The band is tight.

The tour was not one of my favotites though I did like the set list changes.
