My thoughts exactly. As far as I'm aware- Keith's been tied-up writing his memoirs, Ronnie's been busy spending his 'equal-partner' Bigger Bang tour loot on killing himself & there's not even been a glimmer of Stones activity.
A new album in the works?- complete, unadulterated rumour-mongering imho.

Didn´t know they started in 1960...but more likely to be understood as if a marathon
to the London summer olympics in 2012 is to be scheduled.
Then you could truly speak of 50 years on the road..................................

How about them touring the remastered super duper Exile package when it comes out? It'll be the first tour in history to support the re-release of an ancient album.

I'm keeping my expectations low as to the contents of the revamped Exile. That way, any extras will be a nice bonus.

They're gonna kick off in 2010, they're gonna play through 2011 into 2012, they'll invariably get dragged into the London 2012 olympics in some capacity or other, by which time some mathematical genius will suddenly pronounce that by his/her calculation the Rolling Stones will have been doin' their THANG for fifty whole groovy funky and very far out years ... at which point the entire population of the UK (if not the world) will applaud very loudly and Queen Liz will get the old sword out and say "Richards, Wood, Watts - put those beers down & stub those fags out, get down on yer knees, and arise Sirs Keith, Ron & Charles. And we'll all live happily ever after !!

That´ll be integrated in tour schedule around autumn 2011,so even T&A will be able to count down...

And no one will complain about the setlists and everybody´s gonna be happy with Ron & Keith´s playing and all the people on this board will be like a big happy family

Be modest! Every year even every month or week they will wait to announce a tour will cruel. And our expectations on the Stones performing live is very high, too high.
At least they should be so clever to scale down the size of the performances from stadium to arenas and if possible theatre shows.
However if money is the only reason to roll and which I believe is it will be very difficult to find sponsors at this time to invest in a new tour with all the healths risks.

...just enough time for Mick to order up some new wigs...

If they really intend on touring NEXT YEAR I will have to pass. I was wathing SAL the other day for the first time and other them a few songs(She Was Hot,Champange and Reefer and a couple of others) the rest of the war horses as they are referred to on here just sounded tired to me. I am not really interested in seeing as one person on this board said 'The Chuck Levell and Friends Traveling Road Show) ' I hate living in the past but in this case I think I would just rather remember them as they were when it was just them and a horn or two on stage and they just smoked through a show. It seemed to me when I was wtaching SAL that if Keith put three riffs together in row during a song he had to smile and pose. I loved it when he played with his back to the crowd and slammed out riffs . Just my Two cents.

Happy if proved wrong but I don't. To suggest a new album material is being worked on by Sept this year is ridiculous. I do think that Mick will be involved in some capacity at the Olympics, possibly with whatever other components of the band are fit to play in 2012 but mega-tours? Those days have probably gone.
