Saw them at Paris and was not that impressed. Band seemed not close (mentally) to the audience, the Edge was not so loud in the mix and too many political intereruptions And maybe the fact that I had only slept 3 hrs as I saw Lucinda Williams the night before in Holland was related too.

But last Friday in London the band was great. A record breaking audience of 88,000 pcs. for the stadium. Great performance, 7/8 new songs which fitted well and were received very well too. Few political interruptions
Only minor point was Bono his voice, not that great.

But in general 'chapeau' - for this band. With Bruce nr.1 rock band at this moment.

What was the setlist kees?

I saw them on the Saturday night and it was a fantastic show. My wife saw both nights and Sat nights set list was apparently a bit different to Friday's. I'm hoping they return to Europe in 2010!

Totally agreed. I saw Springsteen 3 times in Stockholm this summer and U2 twice in Gothenburg and they both put on really great shows with loads of new songs.

I can only agree as well after seeing Bruce Springsteen and U2 this summer. Really good shows, lots of new songs. See below the setlists for the two London shows of U2.

I saw U2 in Zagreb and they put on an amazing show that night.I have to admit that they exceeded my most optimistic expectations.Having seen Springsteen three weeks prior to the U2 show it all felt like being in rock and roll heaven for a short period of time.Springsteen is by far the best performer out there but U2 might be the second best now that The Stones are not on tour.

U2 seems to be a far better band in concert than in studio.Songs like Get on your boots and Vertigo even kinda suck when you hear them on the radio or see the videos but in concert they go down amazingly well.

Wow - plenty of snippets of cover songs. I see they did Fool To Cry. Strange Stones song to cover, especially in a stadium.

Maybe Bono is aware of the fact that the Stones are into warhorses these days, so U2 have to play rare Stones numbers as well.
In Gothenburg U2 played a snippet of Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?

God, how I wish The Stones would do that one (Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby). As an opener on the next tour! Don't think there'd be a single person not out of their seat.

Sjouke, in case you went to Milan, GF released both shows in good quality. I have the first one and you can have a copy if you like

Iam also one of those who have seen both Bruce and U2 this summer and I was also blown away by both. I liked Bruce more, but U2 were just great too. Couldn't be better in fact. But Bruce was even better...

By the way - Sjouke - what is the GF record of Vienna? (that is the one I attended). I have 2 versions in MP3 that I fonud on the Backstreets forum. Is this some other version? Audience or soundboard? Thanks.

Gotfather Records... this particular one is a 3CD set, with the Vienna show and some additional songs from US shows... great quality, I guess it is very good audience, but I am not sure. Maybe someone else knows.

Sjouke, I will be very happy if you could make me a copy of the Vienna show. I visited the Munich gig but that has not been released 'offcially' unfortunately although it can be downloaded in a decent quality. m Let me know if you want something in return, loads of stuff. From Lucinda Williams until Madonna and all in between (Clapton, LZ, Oasis) in mostly great sound. Of course lots of Bruce and U2 too.
