Well, it all sounds quite "cute" if you ask me! They'd go ahead with the project without any fan input at all, but they are bothering to ASK.

A lot of interesting subjects have been discussed on this board regarding Ya-Ya's ... Maybe someone could try to put it all together, as if in a "brainstorming session", and contact them through mail? ... I guess it'd be a nice chance to let them know what we have and and what we don't (can't figure a "bootleg research department" in ABCKO, lol) and what we'd like that ultimate Ya-Ya's to be.

... Just thinking out loud, dunno ...

The only think I don't like is the part where they want the participant to sign a contract with ABKCO where they own the report, like they want to own your memories, and if you ever write or tell about them later, then they will come after you. They might end up with lots of free entries they own, and this is not a non-profit fan club you know...

well, do we have any info as to what to expect in this 40th anniversary edition, such as additional tracks or, god forbid, even a complete show??!!

CD with DVD disk as well, dream on I suppose.

This is good news to me. Shows that ABKCO has some ambitions with the packaging and information about the concerts -- something both they and Virgin have been pretty sparse with so far.

BV -- will they really care if the fans re-tell their memories in different words elsewhere?

... i hope it doesn't mean they've given up negotiating for other types of bonus material.
fan recollections are cool and all that, but as BV notes (sort of!) we can read 'em on iorr for free :E

I don't think they'd undertake a 40th anniversary edition unless they were going to augment the original release with extra songs - and perhaps one of the full concerts, which they must have. Sounds good to me.

Exactly who is going to go in and do the extensive overdubs that the original Ya-Ya's has throughout?

A full show, or tracks edited in to make a full show from the Ya-Ya's album would sound far too disconnected from each other.

Maybe a few "raw" bonus tracks, alternate mixes or something like that, but don't expect them to mess with the original classic album the way it was released -- they are big on "maintaining the intergity of the original release."

my other question would be how they prove people were there-any decent writer can construct some false, colorful narrative just to try and get included--

Maybe it will be released at the same time as the "expanded" EXILE(which I have faith will be done!!)

You're right. But in the end who cares after all these years - if it's a good story? I mean it's not about the Iraq invasion or something.
Just a nice little gimmick!
But I still hope for 1 or 2 nice stories!

Not really. The fact that ABKCO is intended to put out a new version of Ya Yas isnt in itself news. Its been common knowledge for several weeks.

As for the question posed above about 'new' overdubs - its quite possible or even probable that these were done with the rest of the released overdubs in 1970 before the Stones chose which songs to officially release.

Failing that, its hardly a stretch to assume that out of the four shows which we know WERE recorded for the live album there's enough material there which they'd have no qualms about releasing forty years later without bothering with overdubs.

If it was me I would demand payment from ABCKO, seeing as Klein bled fans dry for nearly 50 years.

What if, say me, someone wasn't there and came up with a great story anyway? How would they be able to prove it?

I was there for the afternoon show the day after Thanksgiving.

How can they collect this info and throw anything together worth a damn in just 3 months?

Someone should do it just for the hell of it. Screw Kleins cohorts for once.

I was there for both shows, I was right at the stage, and the girl that went with me for one of those shows somehow ended up in Micks dressing room. I am still in touch with her, and she can confirm this, and she has a story to tell. However, ABKCO will have to pay her for it...I'm sure they understand.

Are you and your friend in any of the MSG footage from the many versions of Gimme Shelter?

Klein bled fans dry? By keeping the back catalog in stock, releasing gems like Metamorphosis, R&R Circus and putting out those great SACD/DSD remasters?

Get a perspective!

If you are angry with Klein, how angry must you be with the Stones & Cohl who really suck fans dry big time.

By having someone who WAS there read it. Not hard to spot a bull shitter.

Tain't no big deal to release the entire show (in proper order) Something like:

JJFLASH
CAROL
SYMPATHY
STRAY CAT
LOVE IN VAIN
PRODIGAL SON*
GOTTA MOVE*
UNDER MY THUMB*
I'M FREE*
MIDNIGHT RAMBLER
LIVE WITH ME
<GIMME SHELTER>* (Rarely Played)
LITTLE QUEENIE
SATISFACTION (already mixed for aborted "Black Box" project + GIMME SHELTER film)
HONKY TONK
STREET FIGHTING MAN

There we go, aren't they saying they are adding 5 bonus songs? the 5 songs not on YA-YA'S * . It's all coming in November, CD and DVD YEAH !!! ROCK ON !!!

Yes in one of the versions, I am there, a good shot of me, but then I have seen versions and I am not in, which was embarrassing because I was trying to show off to my friends,...and no me.
