I would add to that One Eyed Jacks. One of the most phenomenal westerns ever. Maldin is incredible facing off to Marlon. They were a great team and really brought out the best in each other. Go watch it now if you haven't seen it. I am going to watch again in less than a month of seeing it, to honor Karl

May Karl Malden rest in peace - he certainly deserved better than meeting mr Death
"Streets Of San Francisco" is my favourite TV series ever....so nice to see them DVD releases....in fact it's the only thing I've watched, the last 12 months, on TV/DVD

Karl Malden was one of the nicest men I ever met. Intelligent and a great dry wit. Not to mention a great actor.

CindyC, when we have our long overdue endless conversation about "those people" ...you know the ones in that band called The Rolling Stones, we will have to hoist a glass of champagne to Karl.

I used to work with this guy years ago; every time the song "she got Betty Davis eyes" came on, he would sing "she got Karl Malden nose" haha; That is all I know about Karl Malden.

Not sure about this stars of the 70s thing with Malden...I guess some only know him from Streets of SF.

One Eyed Jacks...what a strange film director wise. What did it end up having, 4? 5 directors? Some say Brando did great with his turn directing...some say it was terrible. Either way, Malden was fantastic in so many pictures...Waterfront is probably my favorite of his.

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)

Malden would have been thirty-nine at the time of this film:

Karl Malden was a consumate actor of great power in film (well before Streets of SF) I can't think of anyone current who could be compared to Malden.

Malden was directed in the stage and film versions of Streetcar Named Desire, and On The Waterfront by Elia Kazan--one of the most important cultural figures of the 20th century.

Malden was also in Kazan's controversial comedy, Baby Doll.

Malden returned the favor to Kazan by being instrumental in lobbying for Kazan's Lifetime Achievement Academy Award.

He was also in Patton with George C. Scott.

And many American Express tv advertisements..."Don't leave home without it".
