THE ROLLING STONES, AMY WINEHOUSE, FALL OUT BOY and THE KILLERS have teamed up to record a new covers album to raise money for charity.
A host of the world's biggest artists perform duets with Cuban band Rhythms Del Mundo on the album, called Classics - the proceeds of which will fund climate change projects and natural disaster relief around the world.
The Killers sing The Eagles' Hotel California; The Rolling Stones take on The Drifters' Under the Boardwalk; Winehouse performs
Sam Cooke's Cupid; and Fall Out Boy and John Mayer team up to cover Michael Jackson's Beat It on the disc, which goes on sale in July (09).
The project was inspired by the tsunami which struck the Indian Ocean in 2005, and follows a previous Rhythms Del Mundo album which featured a collaboration with Coldplay and helped 175 charitable projects around the globe.

In that case I hope they would offered "Drift Away" or "For Your Precious Love" instead...

Anyway, quite an odd choice - it was even at the time of its original release quite an odd choice... And was it also the case that big bad Jagger censored the original lyrics from "people making love" into "people falling in love" (you know, the thing people do 'under the boardwalk')...?

Well, let's see if the same thing happens to the Stones as it did to Dylan. He was asked to do one song into movie, and he ended up recording a whole new album... in this case The Stones could be inspired to record or re-record some of their most darling covers... Not a bad idea? I mean, who cares about the original new songs if the muse seemingly has left the building years ago. There are great numbers of their own heroes, and they are a goddamn hot band to record whatever they please... go into a groove, ask some of their friends - like Taylor and Wyman or Macca or whoever - to jam with them, and make a little album of all that.

It seems to be some shattered double featured marketing language, a little cubano-guerilla marketing, perhaps, but very well selling ...

Just put on the Rhythms Del Mundo track with Coldplay.
What I assume is that they take the vocal track from the original recording and the Rhythms del Mundo-Band plays the rest of the song in this cubanian style.
If you listen to the U2-Version on this CD you can clearly hear that Bono's vocals are from the original track.
Not sure if it's like that, but that's what it sounds to me. So I don't think that there will be a real recording session with the Stones for this record.

Swell another example of either no muse left or just plain lack of caring at this point in their careers.

Seemingly this is not the case even of that but just taking the vocal track from the original recording... That's the "Stones contribution" - I can see them sweating...

I think the biggest difference between what Dylan did and what the Stones could do is Dylan seems to constantly be inspired. I can see the Stones thinking it's just too much work.

The Stones will cover Rehab with Ronnie singing lead while Amy will sing Dead Flowers. ><

I bet it will be crackin' up!

Will he change the line though? "I like to go to rehab I said Ho ho ho!"

I´m sure it´s for a good cause, but I doubt it´ll be any good though..
