I would love to hear them open with "Dancing With Mr D" followed by "Dance Little Sister".

I don't know about Lil' Sis', but Dancing with Mr. D would certainly be cool.

I also think Not Fade Away was a killer opening. Those cool drums creating a special atmosphere and then Jagger entering through the trap door and Keef riffing hard. I totally love it.

I was slotting "Dance Little Sister" as the second song played right after the opener "Dancing With Mr. D"

I know. And I don't think it would be good there. That slot belongs to In Another Land featuring Darryl on vocals. grinning smiley

They're gonna open with Brown Sugar, Jumpin' Jack Flash or Street Fighting Man on the next tour. I heard it from a a source that is close to Mick, that he said the majority of the people at the gig wouldn't know the difference so why bother with anything inventive.

Just Do A Tour With 1 or 2 overused hits a night

Tumblin' Dice
Miss You
Start Me Up
It's Only Rock "n" Roll (But I Like It)
(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction
Honky Tonk Women
Sympathy For The Devil
Jumpin' Jack Flash
Happy
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Brown Sugar
ect.

Play The Songs People Who Pay All The Money Really Want To See, Maybe Even Do An All Internet Vote Concert Tour Like B2B for one song do it for all but the Openers and the Encores or check the list before hand.

You can't say if they played songs like Moonlight Mile, Doncha Bother Me, Slave, Down The road Apiece, or even the ignored hits like Mother's Little Helper, She's A Rainbow, Fool To Cry, One Hit (To The Body), 19th Nervous Breakdown, The Last Time and Harlem Shuffle to name a few that you wouldn't be more compelled to pay the outrageous sum for the tour than if they played the same 10 songs as the last 82 shows with 5 of the 13 songs that appear spontaneously 3 new album songs and 1 song you do want to hear.

Oh, worst show opener Honky Tonk Women 75/76 such a slow riff duh.........duh..duh.........duh..duh....duh.........duh..duh
Yawnthumbs down

Though opening with an acoustic song would be pretty cool, rather than something an idiot would miss-name on limewire You Make A Grown Man Cry.

Shows I was at: Not Fade Way the worst, shows on boot/cd/tape: Honky Tonk Women. Both too slow and plodding.

Best: Under My Thumb.

...worst possible choice...conjunctivewise...!

Not fade away and YGMR weren´t that suitable,
Let It Rock,Under my Thumb and Brown Sugar 72/73 have been brilliant openers.

Worst opener: You Got Me Rocking

"Let it Rock" is one of my favourite Chuck Berry songs, and I really like the Stones' live version. But it really was an odd choice for an opener - a cover version of an fairly obscure song must have got the crowd stratching their heads: "Is that, like, uh...Johnnie B Goode man?".

"You got me Rocking Now" - probably the worst. Not well known enough, didn't grab the crowd.
"Under my Thumb" - the best.

But "Not Fade Away" was brilliant too. The slow build of drums, each member coming on in turn, an old song suddenly taken fast-forward to 1997. I loved that intro at the time.

"Dancing with Mr D" as an opener??? Too funny - you'd have everyone filing right back for another t-shirt or beer. smileys with beer

Yes, Angus, I really loved that "Not Fade Away" during the European leg of the VL Tour 1995. Where was it they used this as an opener on the BTB Tour 1997?

I saw HTW in 1975. It worked great as an opener. The show opened with a metallic flower or something opening up, with the Stones inside. They started with a recording of Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. The opening notes of HTW cut through the Chicago Stadium like a knife. The contrast with the Copland was very effective.
