Im trying to brainstorm on some up tempo danceable songs for my wedding reception. Any suggestions would be appreciated. NO RAP!! Stones songs are the best! Thanks

depends what kind of dance you want to perform:
if you want to go for a decent headbanging action: choose some speedmetal classics like: ride the lightning...well its shurely uptempo..hehe ;-)

seriously: all the rock n roll classics work.

or why not the pogues? good mood for dancing and drinking

white wedding (billy idol) is a bit too cliché maybe....

stones: "miss you" is probably the "danciest" track...

I think you need to set the tone for your marrige, start with Under My Thumb, follow with You Can't Always Get What You Want, then Stupid Girl & then finally Out Of Time.

There are a lot of great songs with girl's names as the title.

Go to [www.allmusic.com] and enter your bride's name in as a song search.

Maybe you'll find one.

When I watch my wedding video - the songs that seemed to draw out the most people were:

Shout from Animal House
I wanna be sedated - Ramones
Blister in the Sun - Flaming Lips
I Only Want to Be with You _ Bay City Rollers

Be My Wife--David Bowie

When A Man Loves a Woman - Percy Sledge
Absolute Beginners - David Bowie

Bruce's 'I Wanna Marry You' isnt specifically a song about getting married. However, another of his songs, "Book of Dreams", would be more appropriate.

As long as you stay away from Wayne County's "If You Dont Want To F**k Me, baby F*** off", you should be fine.

Uptempo: Lust For Life - Iggy & White Wedding - Billy Idol

Mid: Evenin' Gown - Jagger

Downtempo: For Your Precious Love - Stones

Dance: JJF, SMU, Gimme Shelter, PIB... Might fill in.

Like Baboon Bro's selection...very nicely paced.

Starting off with Billy Idol would be outstanding

Maybe also "You Got The Silver"

Hats off to Stonesrule.
Been at some cheerful weddings - but all of the married couples are divorced,
as with my own marriage. One of the greatest weddings
(which ended in one of the greatest disasters too, if that
is interesting) included Van Morrison's album along with the Chieftains.

Lust For Life is also good at 50- & 60 year birthday parties (or any age)!

On a serious note. Some real nice songs that would set the mood:
Thank You - Led Zeppelin
Romeo & Juliet - Dire Straits
Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton
Allright For Now - Tom Petty

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"
