From an artistic point of view it makes perfect sense to remove Bill from the picture.

Removing Bill from the picture makes no sense from an artistic point of view at all, in fact it's almost Stalinist!:

Would it make artistic sense to remove his bass parts as well?
Of course not! I suspect there would have been an uproar of disapproval if they had.
To use a picture that had been used only three years previously when there must be thousands of pictures without Bill available shows no kind of artistic sense at all.
But we shouldn't be surprised, after all, it was a crummy compilation anyway, designed to be sold in Starbucks:

don't much care 'bout repackaging at this point personally; where's those 70 thru 73 shows (other than boots);
and the rest of the gimme shelter footage too for that matter...
it does seem a very nice compilation tho of course, many many many of my own personal favorites are not covered.
including primo live stuff with ron circa '78 thru '81...NOT 'still life' tho that one was fun.
i guess i'm real grateful for 4 flicks. not whining just sayin' ya know?
seems the dvd footage offered and lottsa tracks are nicely compiled and such tho.
