sounds great--do you think there will be any blowback from the Stones? (from violating any sacred trusts?)

I had the same thought when Mac's book came out.

JR--i only pose the question because the excerpt is really compelling--but the Jagger story is really inside--and I always though MJ had a thing about the inside circle violating trusts

Well, outsde of the band members who would be classed as belonging to the "inner circle"?
I suppose gagging orders on some employees will be in their terms of contracts.

Mr. German stopped being an employee thirteen years ago, if there was a gag order it has likely expired.

so he is writing this just for the money as he does not care about what the stones think of it all?

or some kinda payback?

I know Bill German personally as a great friend and Stones fan of great knowledge. I think this will all be in the book. Basically he started off as a young fan, like most of us. Then he got to print a fanzine. Like some of us. Then he happened to live smack in the middle of the buzz NYC so he could actually get a proper distribution and make a living out of writing about the Stones. Not a fortune but a living. I think he has got the freedom of a journalist to write whatever he wants at all times. The short time with the official fan club I am sure there were rules, but I have a stack of BB magazines - in fact the complete set - and most of what Bill G did was basic journalistic work. Now he has written a book about all his experiences, which is great. Few people, fans, have been living as close as Bill G. It should be a great book.

to clarify--i didn't presume there was any official gag order--but after reading that wild story about a coked-up Mick getting in his face in ronnie's basement--it just got me thinking--mick has really honed his images the last 10-20 years into something truly mythical--i just wondered if scenes like this being revealed might tick him off--but i am reading the book regardless--it sounds like an incredible insider's account

Yes, an insider's account, albeit up to 13 years or so ago.
Should be good - Keno's also on its way?

WHAT A SHOCK!!!!!! MICK JAGGER IS INSECURE!!!!!

What are the chances that this book is going to re-ignite some dirty-work feelings
and undercut any chance of new music/tours? Mick might read German's account of
Keith & Ronnie's whispering and get weird again.

But...it's looked merely like a business relationship for the last 25 years anyway.

Bill German should hook up with Cameron Crowe and do ALMOST FAMOUS Pt. 2.

IORR............but I like it!

that´s how drugs influenced Mick. It is the same with Keith, and his stories with guns and knives

in case theres something in the book that REALLY annoys Mick hell slap an injunction on it, and then - end of story. Im sure Bill German is very well aware of that.

I doubt Mick would do that, because "Jaggers sues author over revealing details in book" would be a much bigger story than "Obscure author releases book." If Jagger did sue, it would be great publicity for the book and a lot more people would end up reading it.

Just bought it on pre-order. Now if I could only figure out a way to get a hold of Sam Cutler's book.

well, u kinda wonder if they have not already had a discussion or Mick allowed to see certain parts of the mss and perhaps certain things or subjects were "negotiated"

i doubt the publisher wants to invest time and money in something that could be prohibited from coming out, a la Robert Frank

btw, there was an extensive piece on NPR yesterday about Frank and his (early) career as a photographer in the 50s in NYC as a recent immigrant. Fascinating stuff, but no Stones info, unfortunately. I think a new book on him is on its way.
