Tornandfrayed: loving the Raconteurs or Jack White's send up on a drunk, paranoid Elvis Presley in the movie, 'Walk Hard'? Both are brilliant.

Another thought: they are by no means a new band, but if you have not checked them out The Soundtrack of our Lives. from Sweden, I think; definitely Scandinavia. Great act; with a full bellied singer.
They know how to make an entrance too: "Mantra Slider" and "Infra Riot" are two of the best album openers I have heard.

Eagles of death metal has a few good tracks.
The band is built up by some of the members from Queens of the stone age.
And no, they don't play death metal smiling smiley

Maybe everyone is making a point to name bands that are roughly in the Stones' music vein, since pgarof is on a Stones board, and that is the one music we know he does appreciate.

Yes I love the Stones and have followed them since 69, during the seventies there were other bands that grabbed me, not nesecarily the same sound as the Stones but just different. I don't think Pink Floyd are the same or Zepplin, Gallagher, Santana, Cockney rebel, Yes,Fleetwood mac (70's), Genesis with Peter Gabrial,Lohn Lennon, plus a few others But the only band that i have really followed since is U2, but their getting quite old now. There has beeen a couple of singers guitar players that have been quite good just lately and not forgetting Amy whinehouse but nothing seems to really grab me like it used to, maybe it's me or there just isn't the great talent coming through.

good call - caught them at a blooze fest last year - they opened with a cream tune and it was damned good. they'll need to "find their voice" at some point to make a serious dent, but the talent with this power trio is undeniable....

certainly

Oops...

forgot to recommend Alejandro Escovedo. A must for anyone who likes a little Waylon Jennings with their T-Rex and Hoople.

Might as well throw Gov't Mule out there too, in order to cover your Santana side.

This is by no means a new band, but they haven't been heard of in so long, it's kind of their turn on the great wheel of music again: Georgia Satellites. I just had this CD shuffle going, and they came up. Stones-type rock, with Dan Armstrong cranking, LOL I wonder what happened to them. They were big in...what? 80's.

T & A and Palace Revolution:

You just gained countless "cool points" in my score book. Dan Baird is a hero, the Georgia Satellites are probably one of the most underrated rock and roll (and I do mean ROCK N ROLL) bands ever!

Baird was in a band this decade called the Yayhoos with Eric "Roscoe" Ambel, Terry Anderson, and Keith Christopher. The group's debut "Fear Not the Obvious" is a must for anyone who loves a telecaster tuned to open-g.

Baird's second solo effort "Buffalo Nickel" (1996/97???) is one of my favorite albums of all-time. Top 10 easy.

Thanks guys for helping me feel just a little better about the world today!
