Cool info. I liked the color change too - akin to liking "Back To Zero" on here. Glad no ads or pop-ups on here. Thanks for all ya do, bv.

Where's Leonard Kerringer?

I'm still having a couple of problems though. I can't change my signature and sometimes I get a blocked message and have to attempt to post several times before it goes through.

Otherwise, I really enjoy the site and as Lukester says - it's addictive.

I just noticed my original measures as posted this morning were just 50% of the IORR web site, as there was a bunch of pages on iorr not being included in that original analysis. I added those parts of the web traffic to the analysis too, see the updated report on the top of this thread. The actual number of visitors last year on IORR is actually two million people not just one million as I said.

That's very interesting. I assume your company is familiar with the work of guys like Jakob Nielsen ( [www.useit.com] ), Bruce Tognazzini ( [www.asktog.com] ) and maybe Edward Tufte ( [www.tufte.com] ) ? Or do you have a different approach?

These are more into web designing than analyzing. These guys have ideas and are creative. I work in the trade of telling these designer if their designs actuallly are great or useless to the interactive people due to real measures of what people actually do on that particular web site.

And, do they listen to you if you tell them their design is useless? ;-)

Some designs cost a million dollars and can't be changed overnight. We work with companies who have plans for new web solutions in 1-2 years time frame and the new designs are of course much better. If the customer have a modern design and the company have a professional organization then they do of course change the design as we advice. Still I am surprised how conservative these people are - the web is just 15 years old so there are loads of "old timers" slowing down their business. They do still believe the web is a secondary channel, even if fewer and fewer people spend time on TV and print media these days...

The IORR design can be changed easily but there is no budget and no time for it so it will still be like a historic patchwork of what happened off and on the road for 12 years. Some pages have actually been created during intercontinental flights, others have all sorts of history. I dream about a slick design and better navigation but there is no time to do it, and I need to work until the next tour is on in approx 18 months time.

I'm always on IORR , cuz it's the best place to talk about anything of rock or stones , even if some have fallen in love with keith and even say he's one of the best bassists.
But I like it and it's the 1st page i open daily , and keep it opened all of the day.
Greets to all Iorrians!

This is a quick cut&paste of USA numbers. Last week.
I believe AOl is a provider i Virginia so these numbers
don't make so much sense when you look into browsing private.
If a customer had asked for this report I would have made it 9am t0o 5pm
and then I would have seen the actual states where people come on IORR.
There might be a major provider in CA too probably
Evenings I believe lots and lots in USA are on AOL etc right?
I will do the real 9 to 5 report later...

United States 27,485 33.81% 121,899
California 4,349 5.35% 20,434
Virginia 3,494 4.30% 16,302
New York 3,385 4.16% 15,598
Unknown 2,063 2.54% 6,538
New Jersey 1,673 2.06% 8,337
Illinois 1,302 1.60% 5,275
Pennsylvania 1,279 1.57% 5,917
Texas 1,139 1.40% 5,033
Massachusetts 1,006 1.24% 4,213
Florida 712 0.88% 3,075
Georgia 611 0.75% 2,884
Ohio 558 0.69% 2,052
Michigan 514 0.63% 2,463
North Carolina 430 0.53% 1,705
Maryland 396 0.49% 1,624
Connecticut 387 0.48% 2,201
Missouri 372 0.46% 1,658
.....

bv, if you're reading this, what do the two numbers for each state represent, the first and the third (for example, for CA the two frequencies are 4,349 and 20, 434)?
Is one the number of discrete visitors and the other the total number of hits? Or do they represent different periods of time? So sorry if I am dense on this. I assume
the per cent how much each state is part of the whole of the US portion.

If you have other info, any other stats handy, they are much appreciated, very interesting, to say the least.

Thanks for talking about the design features too.

I have got some questions about the distribution among visitors in North America. Please ignore the old report I made in the old thread. It has got visits and page views, which might be confusing to some. The following are two easy to read reports.

This is how the visitors are distributed in North America, i.e. USA and Canada. The numbers are visits, ande remember every person do an average of 3 visits per year:

This one is a graphically explanation of how various people are visiting. I just opened up the graph for Germany, and you can see where people are coming from there into IORR. Also, if you add up all continents, you see that all of Europe is 55%, North America is 35% and so on:

I do know that you want a lot more details and statistics, and I have lots, but it takes a little bit of time to cut and paste and make everything easy to understand for everyone. I have a plan to make a more detailed explanation some time this spring, where you may see every country and a lot more statistics live.

I am sure there are people from North Korea visiting IORR, but I don't see them on the list. May be they have a different listing, i.e. their IP's have some alternative listing. I am not an expert on North Korea, and they are not really significant to the IORR success as it seems. All I see is this:

55. Korea (South) (KR) 0.03%

I.e. 350 people from South Korea last year. I have a total of 200 contries listed but there are 192 real contries in UN they say, so it is pretty much each and every contry, give or take some disputed areas like Falklands/Malvinas etc, and every year there are new countries coming up...

It's the Falklands plain and simple not Falklands/Malvinas.

It's the Falklands plain and simple not Falklands/Malvinas.

If you live in UK it is called the Falklands.
If you live in Argentina it is called los Malvinas.
Enough people have died in a war because of this dispute.
I don't want any more Falklands/Malvinas war here on IORR.

I have been to Cuba and I have been to Miami.
When talking to people on each of these places I hear
and see different stories on how life is in these places.

I have been in Argentina on the day in memory of the war outbreak,
and Mick said at the press conference is was a sad day for
Argentina and also for UK but they could not do anything about it.
That was during the Stones visit in 1998.

Make it completely clear. Some areas in the world are disputed.
That's a fact, and not open for discussion here.
If I opened up for solving say the problem with Belgium here,
one country or two or what to do with Brussels, or how to solve the Middle East
problems, then we would have an interesting discussion, but in-between this there
would be some people who would fight and make offending statements,
and they would make IORR a very unfriendly place to be.

That is the reason why I have these rules.
No political discussions on IORR, because some don't have manners.
Also, because in the long run, we can't solve other people's problems here.
We can for sure have opinions, and as a start we can accept the fact that
some people have other opinions than us, and that these opinions
might be just as valid as our own opinions. But... there's so little
tolerance around, some think there's only one truth in life...

Thye reason why we have people from all over the world visiting and returning to IORR again and again is because there's no preferences in religion or politics. Everybody is welcome. No preferences. Nobody telling you their country or religion is better or worse. Well, may be a Norwegian bragging about the oil or a Canadian bragging about their hockey team, or an Italian about soccer, that's ok, but I respect and appreciate everyone being tolerant and welcoming to new ideas and other people, from all parts of the world.

Thanks for your understanding.

Perhaps best not to allude to the dispute in the first place and as both sides would never accept the description adopted by the other just mentioning it is political.
