That is the pattern because of doing outdoor stadiums. If this is an arena tour, January makes sense. Sales would be huge in the cold winter months and No Security showed this can work. I bet they go into the studio this Spring, relase a new CD by Christmas and tour behind it in January and hot Europe in the Summer.
As stated before you weren't very lucky in choosing your screen name for such a topic.
Anyway, what's the difference between an "insider" and a "REAL insider", how do you define the Stones camp and, don't want to be impolite, but who knows you?
On the other hand a few month ago I posted that the Faces will reunite and tour next year and hardly anyone believed it..so we'll see.
If it happens fine, if not we can't change it either.
I personaly doubt that we're going to see another tour, maybe a few shows here and there if at all.
So lets wait and keep our fingers crossed, time will tell.
No one said that they will begin in the US. Remember their project to do a big tour in Asia. This makes sense too.

If this is true it would be great.Perhaps they can start somewhere different like Australia or Asia then States in Spring and Europe through summer.Perhaps a nine month tour of the biggies.The new record can come out November 2009.As long as Ronnie has his Faces crap outa da way in time etc...

"The Stones should not tour anymore" "or Britney is live in a better shape than Keith" but 4 pages of discussions in a thread about a new tour.... it's not interesting at all. I've watched SAL 3 times - once at the movie theatre and two times at home. I do not hear what Niklas and Stickydion hear. As do quite a few people. To deny what is going on, yet alone with a lot of what's on The Biggest Bang, is to just be sickeningly biased I think. No matter. Even as bad as I think The Rolling Stones Money Making Machine has become in terms of 'Look what we can do' and 'Look at how much money we make playing the same old tired songs year in year out' on TBB I still love them and find them fascinating.
But I'm certainly not going to blow smoke up peoples asses about how great Keith Richards is THESE DAYS. He's not the Keith of 1999, 2002, 1995, 1969 or 1978 or whenever. He bashed his head on the beach monkeying around. I don't buy for one minute he fell out of a palm tree. He's damaged. He truly has turned into a wonder of medicine etc...so we'll just see how this ride rides if and when it rides again.
Until then...we have the albums and those will suffice.

But judging from ABB shows i have attended (my experience doesn't include the first gigs of 2007 leg, when Keith really had serious problems) and from SAL too, my conclusion is that Keith's work is far from the pictute of "dead guitarist" some people discribe here. In every case, in my ears Stones machine still works well on stage. Maybe for you there is a "Money Making Machine" only. But not for me.
As for the past, i don't think Keith was always great on stage... He wasn't good on my first Stones gig (Knebworth 1976), he had many frivolous moments on 1978 tour (the whole band had been unstable then IMO), etc, etc. I don't idolize the present but also i don't idolize the past too.
PS: I guess we can talk more about Keith in other threads. Mariannerl has right. This thread is different.

I love the train wrecks. I had a tape of them way back. Wonderful. Keith has them still, Ronnie has them still, even Charlie. I think it's the details that have gotten a bit heavier recently.

Personally I think it is pretty clear that they will tour in 2010, but how the start of the tour is defined is unclear. Recordings, album, rehearsals, different dates, the financial crisis is not over yet etc. They do have plans now for sure, but they are not final, they may change according to finance and other factors. But sure they will hit the road, not right away, probably not 2009, but some time in 2010.Fifty Licks...

Actually,factual or not. The timework does seem to work. A new album in 09...Some time to build it up. A NA indoor tour in early 10. Might find a few people with a couple of dollars to spend by then. Euro summer tour in 10. Last big hurrah finish in Wembley?...Plausabile scenario.

I predict Fall of 2010 unless they start in europe.. its rare for anyone to start a US tour in January ...

Knock on wood they all remain fit and Charlie wants to tour...

What I stated at the beginning of this thread is not a guess, I was told by a REAL insider. Those who know me, know I am very close to people in the Stones Camp and there is no reason for me to make up stories for a thread on the web!
And I didn't say the tour would start in the USA, although I hope so!

There is going to come that first time we hear about what the next step is to be. Why can it not be dreamtime's post? Personally I'd like to see them start off in the winter. I'd would not mind seeing one more "real" album. And I do WANT to be like BV and be philosophical about the whole thing.
