We are talking about music here. Not saying the Stones are bad theater and a bad party.
If watching them get your rocks off good for you.
Now on you calling me a cynic and someother shit ... go F yourself, Am not the only one that admits the facts about the stones music performance.
Highest Grossing tour? Big deal. Business wise they are the best no doubt...we are not talking about business dude.
I rather see Pulp Fiction than Titanic any day.
Ooooooh, touchy tonight aren't we, sugar?

I guess the ones who don't like the stones how they are now should not post in a thread where people would like to discuss a new tour. There are other topics. Or even they could open one.. "The Stones should not tour anymore" "or Britney is live in a better shape than Keith" but 4 pages of discussions in a thread about a new tour.... it's not interesting at all. I was waiting to read news.. but... now.."schnarch"... oh I am getting OT as well. But it does not matter on this thread.

skipstone, noone says that Keith is on the top of his career these days, of course. But judging from ABB shows i have attended (my experience doesn't include the first gigs of 2007 leg, when Keith really had serious problems) and from SAL too, my conclusion is that Keith's work is far from the pictute of "dead guitarist" some people discribe here. In every case, in my ears Stones machine still works well on stage. Maybe for you there is a "Money Making Machine" only. But not for me.
As for the past, i don't think Keith was always great on stage... He wasn't good on my first Stones gig (Knebworth 1976), he had many frivolous moments on 1978 tour (the whole band had been unstable then IMO), etc, etc. I don't idolize the present but also i don't idolize the past too.
PS: I guess we can talk more about Keith in other threads. Mariannerl has right. This thread is different.

There will always be people who claim they are better guitar players than Keith, Ronnie, Mick T and so on. There will always be people who say Keith can not play or Mick can not sing. Just ignore. The reason why they say so is because they love to see the reaction. And since they are probably Macca fans on visit here, or Garth Brooks fans, or who knows, may be even Gary Glitter fans, do we really care?
Personally I think it is pretty clear that they will tour in 2010, but how the start of the tour is defined is unclear. Recordings, album, rehearsals, different dates, the financial crisis is not over yet etc. They do have plans now for sure, but they are not final, they may change according to finance and other factors. But sure they will hit the road, not right away, probably not 2009, but some time in 2010.Fifty Licks...

What I stated at the beginning of this thread is not a guess, I was told by a REAL insider. Those who know me, know I am very close to people in the Stones Camp and there is no reason for me to make up stories for a thread on the web!
And I didn't say the tour would start in the USA, although I hope so!
I would also like to see some new destinations or places on this tour that they have not been to in years like Santiago, Chile and Moscow, Russia and especially South Africa and Hawaii and maybe even Anchorage, Alaska, Iceland, Cairo, Tel Aviv and Istanbul!
With all the competition in the summer months, a winter ARENA tour is a very smart business decision and a way to mix things up. If there is 'product' released prior to the tour, a November '09 release for Christmas sales is also a very traditional business move!
There is no need to complain or agree. Just something to think about. I know I will be preparing for world travel with The Rolling Stones and having this knowledge 13 months in advance can only be helpful. I also believe it will be the last Stones tour for many reasons including their health!
