"Mr. Rockefeller, he won't give me no loan.
"Mr. Brown, he don't want me back home.
"Now I love my mother, and she love her son.
"It's so goddam hard to get back to where you started from."

One unfortunate lyric change was in '2000 Light Years From Home' in 1989/1990: Instead of the "500 Light Years...", "1000 Light Years...", etc that's on the studio version, he sang "2000 Light Years..." in EVERY verse. Strange.

Always annoyed me too. I think on Shine A Light though, he went back to the original lyrics there, which surprised me.

She's So Cold has always been open to lyric changing and swapping around.

On the last tour the closing lines seemed to be different every time it was played.

As naked as the day that I will die
The sailors they're so charming there in Paris
But they just don't seem to sail you off my mind (yeah)

I was listening to a 73 bootleg and in Tumbling Dice Mick sings:

Women try to rape me, always drive me crazy.

Never heard this variation before. Did he sing like that on other 73 shows too?

And on New Jersey 78 it's: People think I'm crazy, women think I'm lazy.

It would be fun to collect all these variations in one post.

I am not an expert in lyrics, as English isn't my main language, but I think Mick changed the lyrics from first to third person in Midnight Rambler at some point in history.

It's like that in the studio version on LIB -- he changes to first person towards the very end, which gives it an added menace (he's been narrating his own tale).
