Some of you guy's are really distasteful music fan's to tear into Dave... granted he isn't the Stones, he is one of the more vocal modern day touring artists who relates inspiration to the Stones, and he plays Stones songs, both with the stones, and on his own(you guys probably didnt watch the 2nd video I posted)... anyways, he's a lot more relevant than a lot of things that get discussed on this board.

Btw.. he announced a tour kicking off in April starting on the release date of his new album that will be full of never before heard material. Now that's how you make a fanbase in music. I would argue that nobody does it in 2009 as well as Dave will.

Dude it is all about personal tastes. Just because a person isn't a fan of DM doesn't mean they don't like new good music. Hey my tastes aren't for everyone...
New stuff I like:
The Black Keys
White Stripes
Raconteurs
Wolfmother (but they just broke up! sucks)
Kings of Leo

And many more, and I am sure some people hate those bands. For me DM bings me no buzz, just repetitive pretentious sounding stuff with little passion. And his voice just doesn't do it for me. Sorry, but you opened the can of worms posting about him and there has been pretty consistent negetive feedback about him on this board. To each his own.

C'mon Clark. Liking or disliking a band has nothing to with having good musical taste. It has more to do with personal preference. You have made it most plain that you like DMB. OK, great, that's cool. But don't disparage those who don't happen to disagree with your musical preferences. It's unrealistic to expect everyone to see the world as you do.

Well just to make clarkemf feel better..as much as I don't like DMB when they played the Vote For Change Finale they put on a better show and got the crowd moving more than anyone else (includes Pearl Jam and REM) except maybe springsteen.... They put on a good show..but they haven't written any memorable songs in a decade..its always tripping billies and all that stuff..

Never seen DMB. Have a buddy that attends 5-6 shows a year. Tells me Dave Matthews:

tours EVERY year
Lets fans tape his shows
And throughout the year releases old shows for fans to purchase.

Sounds like he gives his fans what they want. Kind of wish our group could be a little more fan friendly.

Some things are great. Others I don't like.

Absolutely a great band, and the drummer is incredible. I understand that they can be worth seeing them live.

I have one live album, live at red rocks, and it is overall good, even if certain songs tend to be a little monotonous and repetitive on the long term.

DM's voice fits well on some, drives me up the wall on others.

Studio work is forgettable.

Elton has had implants before and I don't think he has a wig now.

If Dave Matthews is wearing a wig it's a poor excuse for one.

i'm not into DMB either but i don't think they're terrible or anything. i can see why some people would like them. not a bad voice. music is not an intellectual endeavor for me but rather it hits in the heart - you either get it or you don't.

Somehow I don't think DM is concerned though with his image as a rock star. I mean DM is probably somewhere between pop music and elevator music. You know, that kinda dreamy, sappy stuff.

Maybe a good bandana hair poltus is what ole' Dave needs to put some life in to his music.

God what a numbskull post....his singing has been fantastic! Witness Love Hurts with Norah Jones, AMAZING!! You Got the Silver from ABB was fantastic as well...Keith still has his singing chops and in fact is probably more focused on his singing than ever before!

I'd go see Dave and his band in a heartbeat! I Love the DMB! He is great! There is more out there than just the Stones friends! Love the Stones the most but I don't just eat one thing over and over just as I don't listen to only one band!
