Hmmm... It looks like Universal's plan to make FORTY LICKS a main stream catcher has not really worked. The good old HOT ROCKS keeps its position as THE compilation. - Doxa

Is it him or Mel Collins on "I Think I'm Going Mad"? Either way, so damn tasty, sexy sax on a fantastic sounding track - each instrument, including vocals, so delicious. Mixed wonderfully, too. RIP David - Doxa

Thanks, Rockman. Andrew's own take on the issue seems to be pretty close what I assumed. I don't think there is any bigger personal drama. Their once tight relationship and probably some kind of friendship was based on business. Mick's train just move on, and Andrew was left at the station. Looking at his used ticket, Klein's stamp on it. The boys did history together, but

Quotekeefriffhards Seriously, still having arguments about the jab, come on guys, let's enjoy the Clapton thread without bringing up the most divisive topic I've ever experienced in my life. We all know the Stones do all they can not to be cancelled, don't hang Clapton for speaking his own mind. Doesn't matter if Clapton is right or wrong, he doesn't bow to peer pr

QuoteSpud I don't think Keith's ever had to sort anything out in his whole life He just doesn't live like that. Charlie described him as a true "bohemian" In his non-released autobiography is referenced that Mick sees Keith as a pure artist and would like to have more people like him. It probably is the same thing Mick admires in him, like we all do. I gue

Yeah, my quess that is the Klein connection that Mick never seems to forgive(if there is any particular reason to be bitter about): Andrew being a vital factor the deal with Klein to happen, Klein taking the manager job from him, and then, when the things get heated, Andrew afterwards taking the side 'enemy', that of Klein and ABKCO. Mick probably wasn't that pleased reading Andrew

I never been a big fan of following a tour based on YouTube clips - what else there actually is than comment setlists and count distinctive errors and flaws? - but I need to say that what I've seen so far on this tour has been been pretty impressive. Strong performances from all three principals. Probably Keith's been the most positive surprise, since I somehow take the greatness of Mic

What actually did happen between ALO and the band that Mick supposedly still feels bitter about? He let them down after the drug bust, and Klein needed to sort that out. The band then make it indirectly clear that they didn't want his services any longer during SATANIC MAJESTIES sessions. So he left, but more like was pushed away. Or is more like him being heavily linked to Klein and ABK

QuoteCaptainCorella QuoteBig Al QuoteTornAndFried Start with Bill Wyman's book "Stone Alone." It chronicles the band's rise from the early jazz and blues clubs in London to international superstars in the late 60s. It's filled with interesting stories and anecdotes, and is an essential read for Stones fans. I must get round to reading Bill's 'Stone Alone'

The rest is in the bathroom, on whatssap, taking selfies or chatting about what they are going to eat later. And Mick hates this like poison. Maybe that is why keith does on

Hmm... Not much opinion about this issue, and I think any stage I've seen has worked for its purpose. But what goes for pre-history - no first hand experience, that is - let's'say the one in Altamont didn't work out that well... - Doxa

Finally I wrote something somebody is actually seeing worth responding to. Not my smartest post I admit, but you know, at least something... But I cannot help it but in my mind Reagan and Springsteen always go hand in hand. It doesn't matter what they say in page 93 if your face is on the cover. 'Boooorn in the uuuusssaaa!" Bruce knew that, no matter how stupid he acts being like.

Damn, they are in a great form! I love those big, dirty guitar sounds plus Keith's playing is simply majestic in its economical efficiency. I am totally stunned. Even obvious "Start Me Up" sparks like hell with that monster riff. Same with "Satisfaction". What Keith does on "Gimme Shelter" is transcendental. Lucky you people able to catch them live! - Doxa

Bruce Springsteen? Oh shit. When rock and roll goes McDonald's they call it Bruce Springsteen. Those who dear to mention his name in the same sentence as Dylan should be shoot or landed on MAGA land (the home of natural-born or otherwise serious idiots). I don't know how fair that voting really is, or is it like a Russian election the winner is set a priori, but let's pretend it is. But still it is not fair. I mean, for casual fans,"Like A Rolling Stone" belongs to a different category altogether. I wonder how many will go: "Oh, I didn't know that classic song is theirs!" Or "Oh, man. They are goin

Quotecyclist So how unlikely is it we'll hear it again this tour? Need to ask from a fortune teller that one... But theoretically it could replace "Out of Time" as an old sing-along number, since - at least in Houston - the American audiences were not that familiar with that one. "Time Is On my Side" has a special history in USA; it being their first top ten hit ther

QuoteLien Mick Jagger on building the ultimate Rolling Stones setlist for 2024 I love that you guys started doing “Out of Time” recently. I've always loved that song. What brought you back around to that? I've always loved it. But the audience in America doesn't seem to know it as well as the European audience. So I think I'm going to give it a miss. Uh oh. So we'

QuoteStoneage In Europe Sir Michael's banter is trying different European languages. In North America it's giving the impression that he is a local citizen. Hence talk about restaurants, local scandals and local politics. I could be without but it's his choice to do so. And as long as he is not a poster on IORR he can be as political as he wants to. That's a great line

QuoteTheflyingDutchman I'm free with "a footnote" on lead guitar. Always loved the way they transformed this 'old', pretty throwaway track from years back into a kind of hippie anthem in 1969. The laid-back, threatening blues feel with both Micks on fire. One of those time-capturing 'this is so late-60's stuff'. - Doxa

Quotekeefriffhards Probably not the thread to discuss but why charge 300 Dollars to see a Stones show if you've lost interest, if it's just Mick and his creative and physical input alone it's not the Stones is it? Your logic do not make sense, but if you don't like the Stones or what Keith Richards does is not good enough for you, no one is forcing you to buy a ticket and
