That's what I'm wondering too. The track listing was supposed to go like this: Side One: "19th Nervous Breakdown" "Sad Day" "Take It Or Leave It" "Think" "Mother's Little Helper" Side Two: "Goin' Home" "Sitting On A Fence" "Doncha Bother Me" "Ride On Baby" &q

Has anyone seen this before? I know about this lost album but it's the first time I can see the actual cover (or a draft of it). source : http://www.suite101.fr/content/le-rolling-stone-brian-jones-fut-il-assassine--a9963

I'm talking about the CBS releases on CD. While some of them have a rather thin sound I found most of them quite good and a couple better than the Virgin remasters.

CBS release of Sticky Fingers doesn't sound right. It looks they tried to do "something" about the sound but failed somewhere. That said CBS "Some Girls" sounds quite good actually. I'd say that the sound is wider or more open. And clearer too. Plus it has the original cover that was censored...

I agree on Rewind. I was shocked when recently I listened to it. By the way the songs from Sticky Fingers sound much better on Rewind than on the SF album itself. Sticky Fingers and Some Girls are not so good. They just don't sound right. Another nice one is Emotional Rescue though. The bass sound is perfect.

Quotevery low volume That's the main point between first digital masters and remasters made in the 90's and after. Most of the 90's remasters sound louder and therefore can give the feeling that they sound much better. I bought the Virgin remasters as soon as they got out. However I was not so impressed by the sound on albums like Exile or Goats Head Soup. Sound was louder bu

QuoteThe CBS CD releases were the vinyl master just put on CD I don't think it happened this way. They made new digital masters for these CD releases from original master tapes. Just like Bob Ludwig did for Virgin remasters. Some of them may sound tinny (Sticky Fingers in particular) but others just sound great - like Exile or Goats Head Soup. In particular because dynamics are respected

Japanese Toshiba-EMI CD's are actually the same as Virgin 1994 remasters. They seem to have been eqaulized a bit to sound more bright. CBS releases were not that bad either.

Quote"It's a shame that Don't Stop / Keys / Stealing / Touch can no longer be found. I like those four tracks a lot." Re-release it as a budget EP! Try to find the "Four New Licks" EP. http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=225853

The 7" version seems to be available too on "Everything's Turning To Gold (The 12" Non Album Studio B-Sides)" released by Mecca. http://www.liederbluete.de/Rolling%20Stones/StonesDiscography/BootlegsAndOuttakes/HTML/E/Everything%20is%20Turning%20To%20Gold.htm The track on Woodstock Tapes is not of the best quality but it'll make it for now. Thanks!

Does someone know where I can find this track on CD? I know it's not available officially but so far i couldn't find it neither on "unofficial" CD's. I'm looking for the 7"/12" version btw. Strangely alternate versions can be found more easily. Thansk for any "hint".

Toshiba-EMI CD's are the same as Virgin CD's. They're both use the same remastered sources. Just on the Toshiba CD's you can hear more details. It's particularly clear on acoustic guitars sound. Goats Head Soup is an album that really benefits from the Toshiba "treatment".

Problem with UM remaster is they put everything up at the same level (ie maximum level). At first it can give the impression the sound is better as you hear some details that were burried in previous remasters but after a while it can make the listening experience boring and tiring. To me the best sounding version on CD is the Toshiba-EMI version. It's actually the 90's Virgin remast

Still wondering too. I can't find it on any official release (maxi singles, promo, etc) and it doesn't appear on the link given above (cdr's list). What's interesting is this demo version has "something" that other versions don't have. Maybe because it's not (yet) overproduced - like so many tracks on last Stones albums. You can hear the band playing... A

Demo and live versions are on the CD I was talking about when I started this thread. I think it's available from links on iorr forum. It was posted at Hungercity.

The Saber Final remix is quite near to the album version. Bass is much heavier though. If it's the 3-tracks promo CD you spotted at ebay, you'll get also an interesting dub remix (Bi-Polar at the controls remix). This Saber Final Mix is different from the Saber's Demo.

It's unfaded (it has one minute more) but the mix is also different.

At the end of disc 2 of "Bod Dylan and Los Rolling Stones" (A Vinyl Gang Product 198) there's a track called "Out Of Control - Danny Saber's Demo". Any idea where this can come from? It sounds actually like a demo or maybe like an alternate mix. But I've never seen it before on any official releases.

Thanks for this excellent post (even if I'm a bit late on this). This CD has some really rare tracks that can't be found elsewhere - the long version of Down In The Hole for instance. By the way any chance to get it posted in flac?

I always thought Sonny Rollins played it but some websites say Bobby Keys played the sax solo on this song. Anyone knows more ?

It's available on French iTunes now so it should be available on every iTunes. The "B-side" (All Down The Line) is the original Exile version with volume pumped up at max - which gives a good idea to what will look like the 2010 remastered version of Exile On Main Street ...

Does anyone have this in lossless format? Also did anyone notice that there are several versions of this bootleg. Some sound louder than others. The one posted above sounds really good as the sound is not too loud.
