QuoteDandelionPowderman Ironically, the two really bass-heavy songs they recorded and released (Fingerprint File and Emotional Rescue) featured bass from Taylor and Ronnie. Live with me and Sympathy for the Devil are quite bass-heavy too. Both Keith's work. But then there is Miss You with a glorious bass line by Bill. Highland Fling on Jamming with Edwards has some interesting bas

QuoteDandelionPowderman Hence, his bass playing on the Stones classics was NOT as iconic as Keith's riffs or Mick's voice – how brutal it may sound. Not brutal at all, if you also count the many studio songs that he doesn't even play bass on. I agree that Bill's contributions on stage were unique. I don't know any other bass players that play the role of being &quo

Well, who knows. But the current tour is succesful in every thinkable way and those who attended were very pleased with what they've gotten so far. And the tour is not over yet! Let's enjoy it, as long as we can.

Apparently it was all set up by a certain Bob Roelofs who was called upon to give Mick some local information about Arnhem. The song "Heb je even voor mij" is written by Emile Hartkamp who is from the city. Also the jokes about Arnhemse Meisjes (girls from Arhem, a local cookie) were prepared by this fellow. Stories like these are always interesting. It seems to me Waddy's memories are rather detailed. That can either mean he has told his stories over and over, so they became part of the folklore around being in a band, or he has an exceptional capacity to remember details. Edit: The story about the yellow Les Paul that Keith calls "Dice" that Waddy tells, differs a bit from Kei

There is a lot of difference between "Heb je even voor mij" and "Let's spend the night together" or even "Won't you be my little baby, for a while". And it's not just the words.

QuoteJavadave Why Isn't Keith Changing His Song Segment? Because it's good the way it is. Happy is one of the best songs ever And Slipping away is one of the heartfelt songs that also have direction. Keith is giving everything he has on this song.

Earplugs can be usefull in case of heavy echoes. But I must say that what you describe in Dusseldorf 2014 was not my experience in Amsterdam 2017. Yeah, there were moments when Keith' guitar was louder in the mix than other moments. Mostly when he hits the first chords of characteristic songs, like Brown Sugar, Street Fighting Man, Start me up and Jumpin' Jack Flash. After those fi

So far, more than 500.000 people have visited the No Filter tour. Ask any of them if he/she enjoyed the show. I think you'll have a hard time finding 1.000 of them who were not enjoying the show because there were any wrong notes played.

Quoteodean73 QuoteCaptain Teague As a Brit, the term "kick-ass" means nothing. Can anyone explain what it means? As a Brit, i think most Brits would know what this means imho. As a Dutchman, I think most people around the world understand the meaning.

So, now that we are halfway through the No Filter tour, how do we think the name of the tour is appropriate? I would say, it shows the band in all their aspects. Nothing is filtered out to hide anything, it's just the raw experience of seeing, hearing and undergoing the band. Nothing to protect us from the glorious violence that comes from these skinny English cats and their instrumen

QuoteDandelionPowderman De Staat was a weird band, Somewhere between Talking Heads and Status Quo, with waaaay too much synthesisers It was kind of touching that the lead singer, who sensed he was at the wrong party, said half way through the show something like: "anyway we will try to enjoy the moment". I feel sympathy for them, cause probably they are a good band in their own se

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteRocky Dijon Congratulations. Well done, my friend. Thanks, Rocky. «One we didn't play» - which one were you thinking about? That was a clear hint, wasn't it? But that aside, I know I should not judge by cell phone videos, but I like what I saw and I regret that I did not have the chance to be with you guys on this special night. You guys ROCK!

QuoteWild Slivovitz Anyway the sound in this youtube videos really sucks. The guitars in "Street Fighting Man" sounded WAY more powerful in the venue. This song is a monster in this tour!! True, so true. Although I appreciate the "souvenirs" found on youtube, I also regret the development where half the audience is holding a smartphone in the air most of the time, concen

QuoteMAF Great show, yes. But the worst sound I can remember watching the Stones over the years (1st row premium standing). It was my fist time in the "echo dome" - and I think the last. Sorry to hear that. I guess it is hard to find a place thst fits 60.000, has a roof and great sound everywhere. During the support act I feared the most, but the Stones were crisp and clear from

By the way, after reading the reviews in Trouw, NCR and Volkskrant, the reader can see how subjective these reviews are. According to Volkskrant Charlie is probably the best instrumentalist on stage, Trouw calls him the weakest link in the chain. And that's the title NRC reserves for Keith. These journalists only write down their personal opinions. Don't know if that is professiona

What I meant was, these shows are not given to please journalists. These shows are given for the fans. Being a fan, I can only say it was a glorious journey along some of the best songs ever written. If you were not grabbed by the energy of the band last night, you were the wrong person in the wrong place.

QuoteWhale Quotemr edward Google translate: last half of the review. I think this newspaper wrote the same thing regarding the licks tour. Enough is enough. But that applies to the newspaper itself. Who cares what journalists write? These people are there for a professional reason, not to enjoy the show. I can picture them sitting with a notebook in their hands, concentrating on a tale

Standing centre field sound is not good during de Staat. Update: I had to put in earplugs to make the echoes bareably during the set of The Staat. During the Stones set, the sound was much, much better. I had a regular standing place, close to the barrier between the general admission field and the pit, in where the middle circle of the football field would be. Great sound there, and a

QuoteTheBlockbuster It's probably because of the ''incident'' during the last show. Keith obviously felt the song vote is such a joke anyway so he decided to skip the winner announcement. Always amazing how people know what is going on in the heads of the Stones... That said, they should know by now that I always vote for All down the line. So carry on.

I must say that I have no experience with these "periscope" things, that apparently keep a lot of us busy. As far as I understand, a person films a show with his phone and others at home can watch the show live that way? I must say I am not enthusiast about this development, for more than one reason. I think it is not cool if anyone in the audience is holding up his or her phone d
