Pretty good. And then different confreres see different sides of Mick: "So what was Jagger like to collaborate with on the Exile album packaging?" “You’re dealing with a shy person: ‘I guess we’ll do that.’" From (only just read this).

In Being Mick when Mick and his daughter stroll into Elton John's Venetian-themed party, classical musicians start playing a song and Mick thanks them. But I couldn't recognize what song of Mick's it was that he would be thanking them. Only later when I heard the Verve/Oldham version(s) of the song did I get it. Condign closure legally, though.

I was never drawn to Patti Smith but then happened to catch her mid-performance on PBS and was so captivated I went out and bought HORSES, but was underwhelmed and played it three times max. Nothing of hers has grabbed me since (a jeu d'esprit deficit).

SAINT OF ME...but not the great standard version, but the seven-minutes+ Deep-Dish-Club-Mix version. (I try to picture Keith giving thumbs up to these peccable narrators' songs wrecked in their club versions: "Yeah, Fatboy Slim's SFTD, lurv it.")

1,000 guitars to play three chords? Hey, I love the Stones! Just thinking of Stu calling them "My three-chord wonders" and his disliking Some Girls because he thought its songs had too many I-IV-V chord progressions. My favorite album! Music for the canaille, so be it...

I saw the Mickey Rourke movie THE WRESTLER with a surgeon who thought the ending was stupid (Rourke falters in the ring after heart surgery), saying, "The heart surgery should have meant Rourke did not falter in the ring. It wouldn't be iatrogenic."

The Stones' Super-Bowl-halftime-show START ME UP exasperated me when I watched it live in California because the start of Woody's guitar solo was muted. I assumed some nescient technician's screw up meant it was muted everywhere. When I later happened across the European "version" on YouTube I was surprised and pleased Woody's solo was full volume from the start.

When asked to sing the title song for the 1986 film JUMPIN' JACK FLASH Aretha said she'd only do it if Keith produced it. The result isn't exactly a chef-d'oeuvre but it's fun to see Keith and Ronnie in the video.

In 1987 Bianca told the NEW YORK TIMES: "Ortega is not a charismatic leader, but he is a dedicated one. Everything that Ortega has achieved has been through hard work, and he was chosen by the other Sandinista leaders because they did not think power would go to his head." Looks like power went to his head.

Deluxe reissues are trammels to new material. When I read a deluxe reissue (or a billionth live or compilation) album will be released my heart kind of sinks knowing it gives the Stones an excuse not to release a new album.

Bianca wanted to be kept soignée. From the new Jann Wenner biography Sticky Fingers: “Billy Joel said the song Big Shot was based on a dinner-table spat he witnessed between Mick and Bianca in L.A. in the early 1970s. `He was writing a song at the time and he kept singing it at the table,' recalled Joel. `"I'm working so hard to keep you in luxury."' I once crossed a crowded San Francisco crosswalk wearing a Stones-tongue No Security T-shirt. Crossing toward me approached a guy showing mileage, probably more from substances than senescence, who could’ve been a Hell's Angel from Altamont days, from his appearance. He stared at my shirt as he neared, then pointed at it and in a loud enthusiastic voice yelled, “TATTOO YOU!” and kept walking

It was funny when Marc Maron told Keith at the start of their interview that he was going to smoke his first cigarette in ten years because Keith was there. Keith was chary about it and told Maron not to. But their colloquy continued until you could hear Keith flick his lighter. After lighting Maron's cigarette, Keith said, "I'm a bad influence!"
