QuoteNaturalust While the song may have some drug references, I'm guessing Virginia is just some imaginary girl's name that sounded good as a lyric. If you must attach some drug thing to her, perhaps she was Mick's coke dealer or something, that would make sense with your view of Mick coming down and begging her to show up. In general I think the Stones were more overt with th

I understand that the song Sweet Virginia is about getting off drugs, or coming down off of them. But my question is who is Mick talking to. Who or what is Sweet Virginia. Virginia clearly has the ability to come down (You've got it in ya) but who is it or am I misunderstanding something? Is Virginia Mick, and if so, why would he be called Virginia?

My sister saw them at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh and they were selling rolling Stones Terrible Towels (For those who don't follow American Football, it's The Steelers battle flag sort of) Anyway, they are the traditional black and gold Terrible Towels with the Rolling Stones logo on them. Well, she lost hers and being a long time fan of both the Steelers and Stones, it was a pricless ite

Sticky Fingers may be equal (Not Better) than Exile. However, I look at the idea, or at least the vibe behind each album as totally different. Sticky is chalk filled with a lot of tracks that stand on their own. It’s one of those classic albums where you can actually sample a few segments off an online store and tell they are great songs, or they are songs that if you had to introduce someone to

QuoteThrylan To me, this is where the "Rollin' Stones" became the Stones. The cut is clear. No more Aftermath- BTB soul searching, experimental wandering. No more Satanic obsurdery...... With BB they do a 180° musically. From this point until decadence sets in, they define Rock. Both technically and aesthetically. Not my favorite Stones album, but an essential part of a 5 album rol

I posted last week that Street Fighting Man and Rocks Off sound similar on the chorus. I think the build up to the chorus of Stray Cat Blues and Soul Survivor sound very similar as well.

Does anyone else think that too many people nowadays misunderstand what the word Filler means on an album? It seems like if someone doesn't care for a song they count it as filler. That is not filler. Filler songs are actually intended to be as such by the artist. Filler are songs that a band just rushes through without any real dedication or inspiration, just to meet a deadline for an

Well I've said before that I'm a Beatles, Zeppelin and even a Who guy too. I was heavy into them all before I was the Stones. Some may remember me as only being hardcore Stones for a few months now. Even on this thread I initially didn't rate EOMS that high. Well, times have been changing rapidly and I honestly think it may be the greatest Rock n Roll album ever. Trust me that'

The fact that it's on the same album as YCAGWYW and that one opens and one closes, makes Let it Bleed, maybe the best album for an opener and closer ever.

It's difficult enough to come up with a list of favorite Stones tracks if you're fan, even a casual fan could run into issues. But do you feel their are any obvious Stones songs that you would rate as some of the best songs ever recorded? I also like intros with vocals that aren't actual lyrics, such as Let's Spend the Night Together, Hang Fire and Tumbling Dice. As for instrument intros, Waiting on a Friend is classic, Sway, Paint it Black and Undercover are bad ass. And although it's a cover, I love the intro to Just My Imagination, because it tells you from the start it's a Stones reinvention, not a
