It's probably a 6/10 album for me. I find Jagger too loutish and yobbish on it, he sounds adolescent, perhaps that was deliberate. But I miss the more imperial, louche and refined Mick. I can hardly hear Elton John's playing on his tracks. Completely buried. The other guest appearances are mostly pointless outside of their marketing clout. Steve Jordan is too high and upfront in th

Just watched the entire thing, massive missed opportunity. Terrible interviewer, weak questions and just let Mick waffle on about things we've heard before.

Mick handled a stupid question gracefully here. I mean, how the hell did this interviewer think it would feel to lose your lifetime friend? Oh, it's just like when a pet goldfish dies, no big deal. Idiot. Putting Mick on the spot like that was insensitive and unprofessional. They should have had someone with more maturity and life experience interviewing him.

QuoteBluesstone The Stones are advertising this as "New Album. New Music. New Era". I get the first two, but do they already constitute a new era, or is there something else we haven't yet figured out? And before you ask, yes, I very much enjoy to completely overthink all of this before wednesday I've been thinking about the New Era thing as well. New Era of touring where

Wow the impressions of Mick were kind of unprofessional and unnecessary.

Ronnie sounded distinctive and instantly recognisable in The Faces. Big and important part of their sound. In the Stones he's underutilised and I wouldn't say an integral part of their sound, which is everyone's loss. Apart from the start of Rough Justice which has Ronnie's signature sound all over it, I really don't hear much of him in the Stones, which is sad.

MUCH better audio on this than the Palladium show - you don't have that intrusive snare sound dominating the mix. The solo that KR rips out on Something Else is one of the most rock n' roll things I've ever heard. Brilliant show.

QuoteBig Al I’ve considered reading one of his works, but I’ve often been under the impression that his novels are overly literary; very, um… wordy. I really do like to read, but it has to be enjoyable and assessable. Rest in peace, Martin Amis. A fine writer, undoubtedly. Amis' writing is very accessible and readable, start with Money, then London Fields, then Dead Babies, The Rachel P

QuoteKurt QuoteWorriedAboutYou QuoteChristiaan So many good songs by The Rolling Stones, but why pick always the inevitable (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction Isn't it incredibly depressing. This entire project is everything I hate about music. Are you kidding me?! The list of guest artists here is astounding. The great thing about music is that you are never forced to listen to it.

Quotebitusa2012 QuoteGasLightStreet Let's put that into math: 20 is a bit precise, because in 2012 there was Doom And Gloom and Don't Stop. OK so let's say from 2013 onward: BLUE AND LONESOME in 2016 (barely). Living In A Ghost Town in 2019. Aside from the reissues and solo material, yeah, that's hardly anything - but given how they are these days (since 2005)

Evening Gown from Wandering Spirit. It has a bittersweet sentimentality and weariness about it that sounds authentic and from the heart. Fantastic vocal performance. Out Of Control from Bridges To Babylon. It's just so full of nostalgic emotion and a twinge of regret, vocally Mick's voice aligns with the lyrics perfectly. He's in storyteller mode on this and wants you to believe

QuoteSpud Just don't let your Hi Fi system start choosing the music you listen to on the basis of how impressive the recordings sound ! I've seen too many folks fall into that trap over many years working in the Hi Fi industry. your system is a tool for playing the music you want to enjoy... ...and music wasn't invented so that fancy audio systems could show off how much

Crosseyed Heart is a great sounding album, lots of air and space with plenty of room around the instruments. Sweet Thing from Wandering Spirit sounds good. But no RS album is going to give you a very accurate image of what a new system is capable of. It wouldn't be fair on the system. I would suggest Donny McCaslin's latest release, Creeper, especially the track Body Blow. Amazing
