Wow - forgot about Killer. What a Killer album, if you'll excuse the pun. Halo of Flies is unbelievable. Probably the most Who-like track Pete Townshend never wrote. And the punks all loved this album. You Drive Me Nervous and Under My Wheels are songs up there with Detroit's finest. Alice Cooper always gets overlooked when people mention the great Detroit bands like The MC5 and The Sto

What about Ram by McCartney. That came out in 71. And how could anybody forget A Nod's As Good As A Wink! Not so sure about Uriah Heep's Look At Yourself though.

I think the best ever was the Star stage used on the 75/76 World Tour. Hearing Keith open the set with the incredible opening to Honky Tonk Women and having cheeky Jagger appear at the top of one of the unfolding stage petals was the best intro to a show I've ever seen.

Quite right Forligan. The quality of a band has nothing to do with one's age. I like the odd bit of Bach but that doesn't mean I was born in the 1700s. To my ears there's not too much improvement on the great bands that emerged in the 60s such as The Stones, The Beatles, The Who, Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Byrds, Love and Led Zeppelin. I love newer bands like Primal Scream and Th

It looks as though the much vaunted Zepp reunion will be a relatively short set as Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paulo Nutini are also on the bill in the concert which is a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. With the ticket price set to be £125 and Prince tickets at the 02 costing only £33 it kinda makes a mockery of the exhorbitant prices charge

If you are really getting into the Kinks and have got their golden 65-71 albums then try hunting out an amazing bootleg called The Great Lost Kinks Album which features loads of unreleased songs from this period. Some of the songs such as Misty Water and Rosemary Rose have appeared on the 3CD Village Green Preservation Society reissue.

The album just ain't up there with the Stones' best. The 80s were a shite time for most bands. Even Neil Young who can normally be relied on to make a good album every few years brought out a load of bilge during this decade - apart from Freedom. I think the fact that the Stones never play anything off it says it all. Crap.

Stray Cat Blues was pretty near the knuckle about the friend being "just 14 years old". Wonder how Jagger feels singing that now -especially as the father to so many girls.

Spanish Tony was basically a low key henchman working for east London crooks. He apparently had some connection to the Krays and was known to the Stones goafer Tom Keylock who then introduced him to the band. Keef took an immediate shine to him and he got the job of Keith's procurer of whatever he wanted.

I dread to think what they did when they got there. Mick and Keef famously sailed to Rio around that time. It was on the liner that a middle-aged American woman would, on seeing them walking around, say, 'c'mon guys, gimme a little glimmer'. And that's how the name The Glimmer Twins came about.

Talking of rare Stones footage - There is a 30 min film knocking about from the 1976 tour. ITV in England I think commissioned the film when they played Earl's Court. There is film of Jagger turning up on the back of a motorbike and some concert footage and Keith having make up slapped on. Again, this has not yet come out on bootleg DVD to my knowledge.

Hi MCDDTLC, There is some fan footage of the band outside their hotel in Holland in 73 and of course the now complete Street Fighting Man from Frankfurt in 73. The most hilarious interview the band ever gave is from Holland Oct 12 73 when MJ, MT and KR were interviewed by Dutch presenter Elly De Waard. The German TV station SWF3 filmed the band playing Brown Sugar and Star Star and interviewe

Does anyone know how much footage the Maysles brothers shot at Madison Square Garden and Altamont? Recently two hours of DA Pennebaker's brilliant outtakes from Dylan's 1965 British tour turned up on bootleg, rescued from the cutting room floor as it were so why can't the same be done with classic Stones footage. The Maysles must have shot a lot more film at MSG/Altamont than wa

You have to demonstrate the raw riffing power of a great Stones rocker with an example of their ability to write a classic pop song with a great chorus so.....this is really hard....I've have to go for....Jumping Jack Flash. Mind you, if they were an alien they might appreciate 2000 Light Years From Home!!

Knebworth was the first time for many years that the Stones abandoned their usual set list and went for rarely played songs right back to their first album. We got Route 66 and Around and Around for starters. Plus there was Stray Cat Blues, Little Red Rooster, Wild Horses, Let's Spend The Night Together and Dead Flowers. The reason Jagger's voice was a bit shaky was because they came on

I know a lot of people really missed Gimme Shelter on this tour and there were also many calls for Memory Motel and other songs featuring Keef on vocals such as Comin' Down Again. Goat's Head Soup is an album that has been poorly served since it came out - my first tour, Wembley 73 - so how about a few classics from there like Silver Train, Hide Your Love which could be a great one

I had mates come down to the 02 every night looking for tout tickets. Luckily the venue was still selling them and they could get £75 tickets in the nosebleeds for Tues and Thurs shows. On Sunday they were only selling £165 tickets.
