I don't see how that snippet in the Flicks doc can be used as an indicator as of how Slave would have sounded live in '81 Anyway, I agree that the set worked very well. Still I think Down The Road Apiece should have occupied the Twenty Flight Rock spot on a permanent basis Also, I would have liked them to have tried out Summer Romance

Honestman, I was browsing through your blog and noticed you've uploaded the December '68 issue of Hullabaloo Mag with Mick on the cover I've been wanting to read that 'exclusive diary' for a long time, but always lost out on it whenever it's been auctioned on ebay So I'm wondering whether you could post the Stones content somewhere, or share some details on th

<<Was the source of this Davis' book?>> I think it's from that Andy Johns interview on the iorr lp Johns tells a story like the above, but Davis 'touched' it up However the incident Andy refered to, actually happened during the recording of Exile. Not iorr ...obviously accuracy isn't really something Stephen Davis is interested in...

<<sometimes he sings it and sometimes he doesn't - if memory serves it's been that way since 1969>> Correct. From Detroit through Altamont the Kennedy verse was included The only other rendition on that tour to feature that verse is the one from Dallas, which is obviously not just a coicidence I have no recollection of the Kennedy verse being included in any of the Euro

<<But to me it sounds like a second-rate Keith riff married to a Jagger tune.>> There's a spring '75 Keith interview, in which he states he came up with the riff If I recall, he also vaguely suggests that he didn't have much else to do with the further development of that track It's not a song that do much for me when evaluated out of the Goats context But

I think the only real memorable thing about iorr is Fingerprint File Some nice ideas like Luxury, Dance Little Sister and If You Can't Rock Me, but they don't come off very well Ain't Too Proud was fantastic in the hands of The Temptations - here, not really The rest of the material I find to be rather trivial or uninteresting, or both

Have only bought very few new releases this year, but Allen Toussaint's The Bright Mississippi and Booker T's Potato Hole have both turned out to be keepers As for archive releases/re-issues; Sly & The Family Stone's Woodstock set have been on heavy rotation since I got it The release of early King Tubby dubs of Clancy Eccless material on Sound System International proved t
