QuoteThommie Something is wrong when one of the most classic song writing partners seem to avoid each other. Despite no new album for six years both are working on solo projects instead of working for a new Rolling Stones album. Despite they have shown that they haven’t made any solo music as good as they have done together. That’s a shame. oh, come on, let's face the facts: Besides a

find an original Robert Johnson 78 record in mint condition and you'll become a millionaire Some ten years ago Record Collectors magazine ran the story that any Robert Johnson original record is at least $ 1000 worth - if the record player's needle makes it through to the end of the record, no matter what you hear or how it sounds (!)

surely the Beatles most likely Bob Dylan, too (in 69 they even arranged that festival in his neighborhood to get him out on stage to performed! And then there was that comeback tour in 1974 - according to Dylan's biographer Paul Williams five million (!) people ordered pre-paid tickets for that tour!) anyway not being on tour for two or three years was quite unusual in those days

Jagger as a serious lyricist???? Oh, come on. He might be a great performer, but a poet? HAHHAHAHAHA! Except for Dylan nobody on that list can stand any kind of comparison with any real poet like Rimbaud, Brecht, Beckett etc

yawn! listen to some of Bob's live versions from recent years - so much better! (still it´s one of the least welcome live choices for hard core Bobcats)

QuoteMathijs Quoteslewan no overdubs no additional musicians (except for a bass player) no contemporary sound no attempt to sound like in the 60s/70s/80s etc no self repetition no release of an album just as a excuse for another tour (i.e. don't release anything before there is something really good) So, what do you want? It is quite difficult to make an album that is not contempora

QuoteTornAndFried Sheryl Crow's cover of "Mississippi" is pretty good. Like it more than the Dylan version. huh? I my opinion Crow's version is pretty shit - after the first third of the song there's nothing but repetition. She somehow screams/shouts the whole song ignoring all the subtleties that makes Dylan's own performances worthwhile listening to. It fact

Soul surviver is quite interesting - if I didn't know it was Keith/The Stones, I'd bet it's the Velvet Underground. the biggest surprise though was the crappy packing of the 2CD edition

the best covers of Dylan songs are done by himself. Check out his live versions of Watchtower (2000s onwards), Down Along The Cove (2003/04), Seven Days (in 96), Tambourine Man (different versions throughout the years) etc etc etc

MJG196..The Band "The Rolling Stones" has got Mick Jaggers name written all over it,,of course its his Band everyone knows that. What ya' talk'n about its not his band.. listen to any Jagger solo album and you'll see what's missing, i.e. that he is just a part of the Stones. His solo works have always sounded somehow castrated to me! and for the rest of the disc

QuoteMississippiBullfrog Quoteslewan ...after they died as a band somewhere ... ...in the mid '80s more like it. I meant as a relevant band. Isn't it a strange phenomenon that a band survives more than 30 years after their last significant contribution to music?

in a critical history of the Stones Mick Jagger will be well remembered as a very clever business man first of all. He somehow kept the Stones alive as a successful commercial project/product after they died as a band somewhere in the mid 70s (Elvis on the other hand is remembered as a great singer, but as a very stupid person when it comes to his 'own' music and his business). P.S.
