QuoteMongoose I've been to nine Stones shows from 75 - 06, attending the 78 show in Greensboro. For years I have always ranked that 78 show at the bottom of the list. However, I finally got a copy of the bootleg and it was actually much better of a show than I remember at the time. So much of a show is not just the music on the stage but your own energy level and state of mind, the peop

Mr. Freezer had to have been a troubled individual. I read the article (from the link in this thread) about his passing. It seems very "Freezer-like" that he would tell people that he was throwing his tapes away. I also find it hard to believe that he would actually throw them away but who knows. The guy obviously had some issues.

These threads pop up from time to time.... Some of my favorites are Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, Earl Hooker, and Jason Isbell... Alot of other players I love too but those are the ones of the top of my head right now.

But that doesn't have to stop me from reacting to it--especially when it's become quite unbearable around here for a while. I didn't wanna quote all that again. I post here sometimes and I probab

QuoteMuddyw I think Paradiso, Amsterdam, 1995, is much more interesting than Miami 94. A small club show from the "modern era". Yes certainly. The '95 club shows (Amsterdam and London) are about the only ones I'd care anything about from the modern era.

The only (official) live B.B. King stuff that I have is Live At The Regal, Live at Cook County Jail, Live In Japan, and the Ya Ya's stuff. I think that's it anyway. On DVD, I've got Live In Africa '74 and the Blues Session dvd with Clapton and SRV and Albert King and all kinds of other guests. I think Live at the Regal is a must have for any blues fan. It's certai

QuoteGazza Quotedcba Thx for the tip! I didn't even know this show took place... >< This is the show I've heard is being worked on. Whether its true or not, I guess we'll find out soon. Personally, out of all the Vegas-era shows to pick, I find it a very, very odd choice. I think it's really odd too. Plus, it goes against the "well-known bootleg" concept

QuoteGazza QuoteDoc It is supposed to be Atlantic City 1989... Not what I've heard. Much more recent than that, and if its true, its a show thats never circulated too. I guess we'll find out in a few weeks. Ok, this I don't understand. If it's never circulated, then it can't be a "famous bootleg". That's been the whole point so far of what they

I've gone back and listened to the official Brussels Affair again. I was listening to all my '73 European tour recordings in chronological order anyway and I just finished with Berlin yesterday. Some blistering performances on that tour but it was more un-even than the '72 North American Tour. I think the good nights in Europe in '73 were probably the band's greatest s

Quotestonesdan60 No question - Brussells is great. Don't get me wrong, but there's something about LA Friday that keeps drawing me back. As often mentioned, one's preferences have a lot to do with when you first became a Stones fan. Ya Yas blew me away at age ten and I was hooked for life. I loved Mick Taylor but I was also a huge fan of Faces, and when Taylor left I was thrill

I own a few cheap guitars. I had alot of MIM Fenders and Epiphones at one time and decided I'd been playing long enough and was good enough to upgrade my gear so I started to get rid of most of the cheap stuff and replaced it with MIA Fender's (AVRI '57 Strat, CS Time Machine '56 Strat) and a Gibson ES-335. I did however decide to keep two Epiphones and one MIM standard Stra

I just saw this thread. I've been going through all my '73 European Tour recordings chronologically. The Stones were excellent through the first couple weeks of that tour and the London shows were smokin'. After London, there were a few so-so shows but generally the quality of the performances was pretty good. Nothing much really stood out for me about the 9/25 and 9/26 afternoo

In keeping with this theme of turning the thread into a "Brussels Affair" thread.........I'm still going through my recordings from the '73 European tour. Just recently went through both Frankfurt and both Munich shows. All of them were pretty good, although not great, performances. Then came Hamburg, and the recordings I have from both Hamburg shows were pretty rough (not c

I haven't been on in a few days and just saw this thread. I heard on the radio Tuesday that Levon was very ill (Stage 4 throat cancer) and then heard last night that he passed. I am truely saddened. It's not often that the passing of a celebrity causes me to feel true sorrow but as a musician and fan, I feel we've lost somebody very special. I'm thankful for the music that

Quotedcba It's been 3 weeks and I'm really beginning to wonder WHY the Stones have chosen this last L.A. show. It's a mistake-ladden tired performance that doesn't exactly represent the greatness of the 75 tour. My guess is the Stones are too lazy to dig into the vaults, listen to the tapes and pick the best. So they rely on fans' opinions. And why is this July 13 sho

I know people are often just shouting out what they would want to have released. But then some people seem to actually think we're going to get El Mocambo or something equally rare. It's not gonna happen. We'll get a well known show in excellent sound quality. If we're lucky, we might get a few tracks that we've never heard. Maybe the first two tracks from Leeds

I only vaguely remember posting that. I was alot more "into" Stones bootlegs in those days. Now I only go for the better sounding recordings. Anyway, there are others on here who could tell you alot more about the '75 tour than myself (Erik Snow for example, among others). But I appreciate all the appreciation nonetheless!

As others have pointed out, there's absolutely nothing in these first 3 releases to give us the idea that we'll get something like an unheard '71 show or a pristine '70 show. Famous bootleg TITLES is the thing here. "Brussels Affair" is probably the most famous of all. Nevermind that most of the music was different, the selling point was the name on that one.

QuoteSighunt Tumbling, for me, you have pretty much expressed my sentiments as well. When I first acquired LA 75 as an audience show some 30 + years ago (which came to me via a 3 LP box set Tour of the Americas through the mail), it was my first real boot. At the time, I felt really special (LOL) to have something like this in my possession that many people did not have. It was sort of a novel
