I am thinking of purchasing the Martin D-41 GJ (George Jones model. Anyone ever play one of these? Thoughts? The other opion is purchasing a new Martin D-42. The seller of the D-41 says I am crazy to not only buy a new Martin..but to even think about it. He mentions the scalloped bracing on GJ model as one of the benefits over the D-0-42. His last email stated would you rather own one of a hun

Would prefer to here any "Carltons" tapes...Keith, Peter & others singing at various Ritz Carlton hotels on the 81/2 tour.

Not the best analogy regarding the bricklayer. Its not as if you quit the band & music altogether. More like you quit being a bricklayer & then went on to be brickmaker. Still workin' with bricks! You can tell I am just frustrated & want Bill back. Have been listening to Hampton '81 a lot again....

I remember him playing Symapthy for the Devil encore with the Rads in Stamford,CT. I did not know who he was ...but kept asking, who was that guy on slide guitar-amazing. Years later, while at Jazz Fest, I made it a point to catch him.

I remember "listening" to Let it Loose for the first time in fathers apartment on the upper west side of manhattan. I thought jagger was singing "Betty Lou" instead of "Let it Loose". On a brighter note. I became such a fan of the stones & in particular, Exile, that later on, while backbacking thru Europe, I recalled reading (from various books but also Exile

I just hope that when they tour they play great versions of the songs they choose. I have not been a fan of Tumbling Dice for years...& was dissapointed in the "recent" live Loving Cup versions. Would be nice to hear Mick play it on a grand piano ..as oppossed to Chuck (no offense) on a keyboard.

Sound like the studio version of how they played it in Hyde Park. I could not believe Don Was said he prefered the "new" version better. Even Mick said he quite enjoyed the older version.

I appreciate all the advise. I can tell you that I always keep a "beach" guitar-one that I can take around & not fret over..so to speak. Anyway, It would be nice to get an instrument that I will love to play for years ...but that I can also pass down to my grandkids grandkids -If I am that lucky. I admit, it will be hard to go in w/out brand glasses. I think the brand & style

Could use some assistance from all the guitar players out there... I am interested in possibly purchasing a Martin guitar. After years of playing ...may make the plunge for a above average guitar. I was thinking of the Martin/ George Jones model...but now understand they discontinued that. Anybody know the reason why? Any other recomendations for a high end acoustic. I think I h

Just my opinion...but the song sounded like it was stuck in 2nd gear. I prefer a faster tempo for this song. Love the live '81 version. but that is just my opinion...

They should tour...do exile in its entirety ...or majority, and bring Taylor on board for just the tour.

Just saw Van Mo here in Fla last week. Came away very impressed. Loved his band. A bit more jazzy than I am used to listening to ..but they were great w/ the exception of the guitarist who did not impress me. Strange as I am a guitar player & usually foceus on them. The drummer was amazing ...as was Van's vocs.

Just bought a new beginer drum kit last night ..did not even know how to set it up. Just want to have it around so others can play ..while I play guitar. I also want to to learn to play as them as well. I was looking at pictures of how Charlie (obviously one of my favorite drummers) & I notice that uses only one Tom ...?? Any advice for a total novice? Thanks...

I recall Ron Wood clowning around a lot. I wasn't as familiar with the stones then as I am now. I have heard the tapes & songs are train wrecks. I recall thinking that these guys are really not from around here...when I heard RW talk about losing his ring...& then getting it back. Seems his accent was much thicker then.

I will have to try this at home on the guitar(at work now). I don't think ronnie played the pedal steel on the live '81 versions. Maybe he used a b-bender? I could check the Hampton video tape???

I would think Keith called the changes ...love the Hampton '81 version. Bill bass line is great on that version.
