Winter has strong performances from Jagger and Taylor As a song, though, I find Moonlight Mile both more moving and more original.

Hey, Doxa. I always enjoy your posts -- thank you for your insights. I believe "Lies" was played in '78. Not in everyshow, but I think it was played a few times.

QuoteDandelionPowderman QuoteRomanCandle QuoteDandelionPowderman They have played most of it without him for 40 years, haven't they? I'd like to see Taylor in on this, too, but this is spamming the message board, imo. It's not deja vu, it's deja deja, vu vu vu *revu Seriously, live versions of Sway are terrible. It lacks the intimate atmosphere of the studio version,

QuoteErik_Snow Well I'm not the one who went behind other peoples backs, in case anybody is wondering, I never break a promise. One of the best 1970 recordings for sure. Deserves to be spread and enjoyed by the many Welcome, my friend. It's nice to have you back. I'll give this a listen when I get a chance. I have new noise to share with you very soon.

QuoteLongBeachArena72 Interesting discussion about Jagger's vocal strengths and weaknesses. One thing I've always wondered about: what if at least some of Jagger's "decline" is attributable to physical changes in his voice? Obviously, his voice has aged considerably. It's much more brittle at the top and thin to the point of non-existence on the bottom. He cou

Naturalust -- Just to confirm, the lead guitar on Hot Stuff, as it was done in '76, is definitely Ronnie. Thanks.

Just to weigh in on this Jagger as a singer. First, for someone to say that "all of the best rock vocalists know that he can't sing" is amazing to me -- thank God he's no Billy Idol. I think Mick is fabulous on Sway -- he really gives everything he has on this one and conveys real emotion. Along with Taylor's solo, he makes this song special. Having said that, he

This is a very good audience recording -- personally, I wish Ronnie was a little louder in the mix. Having said that, this is a great example of a '75 show -- much better than the 11th. Performance-wise, I prefer it to the 13th -- in my opinion, it's one of the best 3-4 shows of the tour, not just the best LA show.

Quote2120Wolf Quotetexas fan IBC recordings -- BBC ? No...these five songs were recorded in March 1963 at I.B.C. Sound Recording Studios in London. 1. Diddley Daddy 2. Road Runner 3. Bright Lights, Big City 4. Honey What's Wrong 5. I Want to Be Loved You can find it on Youtube. I recommend it -- it's pretty much "must hear" stuff.

QuoteMuddyw One complaint to al of the concertfilms: They never stay focussed on the one who is playing a solo on his/her instrument... Like here on Star, Star when Keith starts with his solo, we miss half of the solo on camera! Hmm...as I recall, during Ronnie's solo on Angie, we see Ollie Brown from the back playing triangle..

QuotePaul Kersey Quotedcba QuoteDandelionPowderman Millard was pretty thorough and taped all the shows. Iirc he missed the 10th show and had problems during the July 12th gig : did he arrive late or did he have tech problems, anyway his recording is incomplete... He did justice to the 9th and 13th shows though... Keith's guitar is a bit low on the 9th recording IIRC, shame. Inter

It's the show that was historically referred to as the 11th -- both the audience recording of the show and the bootleg DVD. I don't know for sure, but I believe this date probably came from the original taper, Mike Millard, who was not known to mess up his dates, as far as I know. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, but that's how some people say it's the 11th.

Hi Erik -- I haven't had the chance to read all of the posts in this thread -- maybe my thought has been shared already. I can't judge music based on how complicated it is, or how technically proficient the players are or how intellectual the composer is. It either transports me and makes me feel something or it doesn't Like any art, music can communicate something real a

Whitem8 -- interesting point, as many of yours are. But, to continue the thought, it seems to me that it is completely unscientific to accept the results of scientific research as true. Scientists understand how important the tiny details of methodology are in getting good data and how, even with reliable data, it is entirely possible for smart, critical thinkers to draw the wrong conclusion

QuoteReagan Quoteshawnriffhard1 This guy William M Smith says Billy Preston opened the evening show in Houston. Is that true? First I've heard of that. Yeah, I thought that was interesting too. And to make matters more confusing, no one of the other papers reviewed the evening show. So, it's not like we could look to them for confirmation. It was Stevie Wonder. He was also to have

It's an audience recording and, for an audience recording of the time, a very good one. I believe it was the last of the NY shows. I guess, in the bootleg world, the sound quality would be rated VG+ or Ex-. It's also a good show-- considering both sound quality and performance, it's in my top 5 of the tour. The band is very good. Jagger's voice may be a bit shot. I do not

Tend to agree with sonoma -- it's a great song when done with the intensity of the studio version, but in my opinion, the guitars (or lack of Taylor) have not been the main problem with Sway live. For me, it's the the voice-saving singing. If Mick's voice can't recover from really singing it, I understand, but I won't be begging to hear it. Let Taylor play LIV, or Symp

CE, I may be wrong, but I don't think Drake's evaluation of this information had anything to do with trusting or not trusting you as a source. He said it "wasn't news," I think, because it didn't really tell him anything about when or where the rehearsals WOULD be. Reasonable people can disagree about the value of information, of course, and others might find it &q
