AFAIK the ordinary honest-to-god single disc will probably only appear sometime in the new year. It's not immediately clear from that article,

Sting, in the royal albert hall sometime in november 1999. The boss paid for the ticket and for a spot of dinner in Sticky Fingers. The meal was top notch, the gig was crud, and it's 2 and a half hours of my life i shall never have back

stupid question, but what's so special about the japanese market that they always get bonus tracks. It's not just a stones thing, but most artists you come across, if you see the japanese version of the album, it'll tend to be laden down with goodies...

The smart thing to do is the pixies/pearl jam/peter gabriel (is it restricted to artists beginning with 'P' i wonder) and just make the shows, warts and all, available for sale/download almost immediately afterwards. the kinds of fans who are going to pay money for that kind of show are most likely the kind who won't be too bothered at a fluffed intro to a song!

i'll write up a proper report in a while, but suffice it to say for now that the show rocked. After a barnstorming, YCAGWYW, my pal Barry turned to me and said "that was savage - you know, i could f*ck off home now and feel i'd got me money's worth" course then the b-stage thang happened, and we were right beside it; judging from a few of BVs photos, i think we were cl

Ireland qualified for their first world cup finals that summer; shedloads of people piled over to Italy to watch the games rather than stay home. A significant amount of the country's GDP was spaffed on airfares (remember, no Ryanair cheapo flights back then) game tickets and pasta. Also, at that point, it had been only 8 years since they'd last played in ireland so the demand wasn&#

it's sold out insofar as you won't get tickets on ticketmaster; i think that touts and, perhaps even a few of this parish, might have bought one or two extra as a cursory look at Ebay says they're not going for face value. (fancy a gold circle a ticket...)

i'm assuming that Frankie Gavin (him what played fiddle on 'The Worst' on VL) will probably turn up to do something, seeing as he's a support act as things stand - it wouldn't surprise me that they'd consider releasing it, insofar as while U2 have done it, so too have the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and (I know) Brian Adams; aesthetically, if you get - like i say - goo

you'll have to go into dublin city centre and get a bus from there, most likely. if you've googled for 'dublin airport slane bus' and come up with nothing, then it's likely there's no such service. On a saturday morning, the ride from the airport to the city centre should take 20 minutes. The servie that departs from custom house Quay might serve you okay, but the de

Word magazine is a UK mag that tends to be the preserve of those who love their music, but don't necessarily revere all musicians. Here's a podcast...the recording of which is sponsored by the Stones, or the company behind the release of the recent DVD. (it's # 15 you want) I've not listened all the way thru, but it seems like harmless fun, with plenty of fun bein

Although the gigs won't be in on, um, 'sarf Lahndan' this time around, it's always worth checking out any Youngs pubs (altho' i see they've undergone some class of amalgamation recently). Anyhoo, another nice light beer is Youngs Ordinary and, for the more adventurous, on a nice sunny day, you really simply can't beat sitting out of doors watching the world go b
