I understand there's an audience tape of this show floating around. I can't seem to dig up my copy. Could use a replacement as it's the only one I'm missing from the tour. Thx, J

Here's some insanity for you: I checked all of my 78 sources, and came up with the following for the Miss You performances. Listed are the lengths of the instrumental breaks between the falsettos Mick sings after the first verse and before he begins singing the second verse. Detroit is the only performance where there are 4 instrumental measures between the verses. Excluding Ft. Worth,

Actually, I need to give credit where credit is due: JJSTEVE pointed this out to me YEARS ago (like when it first came out!) and I told him he was insane and that it was just the change in the guitar levels (Keith kicks in the phaser at just about the same time). Then when the Halcyon got posted he brought it up again. So, with nothing better to do, I investigated today and it appears to be

So far Lexington, St. Louis and Anaheim (7/23) all have 2 measure breaks in stead of the 4 measure one in Detroit. J

The Ft. Worth "Miss You" intro runs :09 seconds before the Detroit portion is spliced in. There is a sound level difference. Additionally, if you listen to the Detroit intro, the first 9 or ten seconds are completely different. From this point the Detroit SB, aud. and "Ft. Worth" SB are identical until Mick starts the second verse at roughly 2:04/5 From :10 - :58 Same

OK, scratch some of the above -- I was looking at the wrong CD case! My error. The Halcyon and Swinging Pig Ft. Worth's do match, as do their Miss You lengths - BUT the "Miss You" on BOTH discs IS the unedited Detroit version and not the supposed FT Worth version. I have confirmed this with my Detroit audience tape - which matches the Lies/Miss You tracks on the recent D

Well, at least not all of it. Has anyone else ever noticed that the purported Detroit 78 SB recordings of "Miss You" are identical to the purported Ft Worth 78 SB recording? Time to dig out those 78 audeicne tapes and do some detective work. J

This is, indeed, a great show and it's fabulous to have it available to all like this. A few corrections/comments on the Comments posted are necessary however: "This concert is close to the end of the tour and the set list is set with no surprises. "Satisfaction" and "Street Fighting Man" were played in some of the early shows but were dropped by then"

Indeed, Seems at that time (wow, nearly ten years ago!) The Globe was quite the venue (as was the Cat for a label) for producing 'crystal' clear audience recordings. J

How many times does this make "Gangster's Moll" being pulled out in rehearsals/sessions only to be left in the can again???? Mick seems to be quite endeared to this song, yet it never gets past this stage. J BTW: the sound on this tape is definitely a 10!

You know, if we got 100 pounds from a bunch of people on this list we could easily win this auction. :-) I'm not sure the Stones will go after this tape. It will be interesting because bootleggers certainly aren't making the kind of money to be investing in it I'm thinking. Dolf - sounds like you are in a great position there. Still got the sample tape? ;-) Also Dolf, coul

It is documented in Robert Greenfield's book on the 72 tour that the Stones, prior to their gigs in Ft. Worth and Houston, rehearsed in the Dallas area. It would make sense for two reasons: 1. They were being filmed for the "ladies & Gentlemen" film. 2. Their performance in Kansas City was less than inspiring due to heavy partying in Chicago at the Playboy Mansion.

But just as we arrived, it began to rain. And rain…and rain some more. HARD rain…as a matter of fact, it rained some 5 inches over the next two hours, causing some flash flooding!
