Last time I took the ICE was in november 2003. You could still smoke, but it might no longer be possible. At that time you could also still smoke in the Amsterdam-Paris "high-speed" train. That's no longer possible now. So they might also have taken out the smoking seats from the german ICE....

The difference with Paris/Amsterdam time zone is 8 hours currently. They start playing AFAIK at 19:00 pm japanese time. So that's 11am in Paris/Amsterdam. The sun goes down here in Sapporo before 7pm. Don't know how that is in Tokyo, which is at least a 1000km south from here.
