QuoteSecondSet QuoteTopi Quotedkwalika QuoteTopi Thanks for the intel re: Chitown. I missed this! Info, please! Just read hymenlips' posts in this thread. The gist of it is that the Stones have a venue hold in Chicago for June 30. I have reason to believe the date is wrong. What venue, and what other date do you think it might be? My daughter and her family are the next in line to se

From the NY Times: The Rolling Stones’ “Hackney Diamonds,” the group’s first album of new material in 18 years, and first studio LP since the death of its drummer Charlie Watts in 2021, opens at No. 3 with 8.4 million streams and 94,000 copies sold as a complete album. It is the Stones’ 38th LP to reach the Top 10. (In Britain, “Hackney Diamonds” went to No. 1.)

I can't recall a Stones album where one side was so clearly better than the other. Side A is superb, side B is just okay, IMHO. And, the centerfold is a waste of space. Why not lyrics and/or pics of Charlie and the guest artists, anything. . .

QuoteJavadave Bobby Womack opened my first Stones show in 1981. Buddy Guy was fantastic on the Zip Code Tour in Milwaukee. For the most part, the other opening acts I’ve seen have been average (Promise Of The Real) to lamentable. Yes, I forgot Buddy Guy. Saw him twice in Milwaukee, including Zip Code, and both times he was excellent.

I was wondering how they choose their openers. I've seen some great ones: Pretenders, Eagles; and some new acts that I liked: St. Paul and the Broken Bones and Wide Mouth Mason.

I'm liking the shorter version more than the longer one. I know I'm in the minority here. Gaga is getting to bug me more. Maybe I'm just an old dude, but. . .

QuoteTopi Quotedkwalika What potential Chicago showw? I missed this. Is a venue mentioned? See hymenlips' posts on page 10 of this thread While they did not mention a specific venue, you'd have to think it's Soldier Field. The Stones were originally supposed to play there on June 30 this year. Yes, saw them there in 19, last with Charlie. Thanks!

"Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wod are working on a documentary that will detail the recording of Hackney Diamonds. “The film will show the group as they began work on the 12 tracks appearing at Hackney Diamonds,” a source close to the project said. “It will give fans an intimate and sincere look at Mick, Keith and Ronnie as they work their magic in the studio, including bantering e

Just wondering if the Stones would ever consider this scenery, ala U2 doing it now, and other rock bands have done so (Aerosmith?).

He started the magazine so he could meet Dylan, Lennon, and Jagger. And it was great for a long time. I didn't mind the politics, and they broke the Patty Hearst story and gave me Hunter S. Thompson. But it changed in the 1980s, and Wenner is an arrogant prick, IMHO.

I think he is the ultimate rock snob who got what was coming to him. I subscribed to his magazine for years until it became Rock and Roll People magazine (1980s?). He's just been condescending for years about not inducting certain artists. @#$%& him.
