Isn't Jimmy White also a mate of Ronnie? I remember seeing them together watching a game at Wimbledon many years ago. - Koen.

The nice thing about the capo on the 2nd fret, is that it is much easier to play the single notes inbetween the chords. - Koen.

Standard tuning, capo on 2nd fret. I don't have my guitar here, but I think the chords then are A D G and E (so really B E A F#). - Koen.

Good point Milo. I'd like to add, how many well known songs/hits did Ry Cooder write using open G? That being said, I think Ry Cooder is an exceptional (slide)guitar player. - Koen.

I wasn't aware of the fact that Mick Taylor has a drinking problem. Must be the fate of a Stones guitarist. - Koen.

Indeed he uses open-E on YCAGWYW on the original recording, but nowadays I think he uses open-G when played live. Other open-E (or open-D) tunes are You Got The Silver and Prodigal Son (and some other I cannot think of right now ;-) - Koen.

Yesterday on my way home in the car I heard a song on NPR (US radio station) that sounded a lot like prodigal son, only a little bit more bluegrass-style. Turns out to be Trainfare Blues by Stefan Grossmann. You can listen to it here: Click on 'music interludes view', and then scroll down a bit. - Koen.

Wishing Ronnie all the best, his health is most important now. I am curious though what his friends and family did at the party when they saw him drinking again. Did they just let him go on? They should know about his situation and the dangers by now. - Koen.

Some smartlappen are really blues. A few chords, simple melody, and sung from the heart. Think about Hazes for instance. But Bauer probably not - Koen.

Bassdude, You need to get professional help immediately. Don't isolate yourself. You already took a big hurdle, you admit that you have a problem. This is indeed no joke. The next step is to stop, how simple that sounds. Don't do it for your family, do it for yourself. hang in there! - Koen.
